Is there specific hardware needed or is it just a case of adding drivers like in normal windows. For example could I use the x2 I have on an nvidia board
"Lack of support for device drivers (specifically for network and disk
subsystems).
Windows Home Server uses technologies from the Microsoft Windows
Server® 2003 operating system, and therefore it works only with drivers
that are designed for Windows Server 2003. Many components for older
consumer desktop computers do not work with Windows Home Server.
Minimum Requirement
1 GHz Pentium 3 CPU
RAM 512 MB
70 GB internal HDD
100 Mbps Ethernet
network interface card
Future versions
of Windows Home Server may
support 64-bit processors only.
An external Internet broadband router/firewall
device with 100 Mbps wired Ethernet connection.
Additionally, Windows Home Server assumes that
your home computers get their IP address from
the router/firewall device on your home network.
Note
Setup is not supported on laptops. Install Windows Home Server only on
desktop or server hardware."
why does a server like this need shed loads of ram? it's for sharing files, and system backup/restore. that's pretty much it. i imagine most people will be installing this on crappy old 1ghz boxes with a 512mb-1gb of ram.
Well I assumed a product called "home server" would be doing more than sharing files, which even windows xp home can do.
