Exactly. I use Lights out so the server boots at 6pm so it's ready to use when I get in and turns itself off 10 minutes after the last client has disconnected.
I would have thought you could automate that process? Set it to Hibernate/sleep after X minutes inactivity, with a wake-on-lan letting other machines access it when required.

At the moment I have it hibernate 10 mins after the last client disconnects, but this means I have to have a client pc turned on when using my Xtreamer else the WHS will go into hibernation during playback.
Go into the LO page on the console, into the status page, click settings under monitored sources, click more and there you'll find it.
Lights Out does have the option to manually wake up and hibernate the box, I'd give it another try it's a lot more feature-rich now compared to when it was first released.
