Is there anyway of automating backups of the shares to an external drive without having to do it manually?

What about Syncback Freeware which (I think) includes the ability to schedule, or RoboCopy GUI scheduled by "Scheduled Tasks"...there is also SyncToy

I use CrashPlan to backup the D:\ on the WHS to another machine on the network.

Has anyone seen this error before? I can RDP to my server, get onto all the network drives but cannot connect to the server console from any other pc in the house. It was working and now it has stopped.

That just happened to me.
Rebooted my PCs and server and it fixed itself.

It's weird, I have rebooted it several times and pc too, but still same problem. Is there any service that needs to be running for this console to work? I can use the console on the whs itself.

There is an WHS addin for Amazon S3 that looks interesting.

However I can't work out how much it would cost me

My picture folder is 32GB and my home videos is 175 GB I would love these back up online.

Does anyone use their WHS as a DHCP server and if so how are you using it?

Dunno if it will help but there is an addin called DHCP4WHS. Not used it myself.

Yep, this is the way I do it. You don't get a Console app though, but then again how often do you need to change anything on a home network?

I wouldn't use the Addin I don't think its been updated for ages and was very buggy when I last used it.

Try the DHCP role in windows, should be able to use it.
