Windows LIVE Local Maps - Amazing !!!

That's very cool. Google Maps has a picture of my area before my house was even built which was 5+ years ago, but this Windows Live Local has my house, along with other new things so I reckon the picture of my area is from last summer.

It shows a really old image of my house cos u cant see my pool or the extension, and they were done over three years ago now! although it is very detailed!

As for what next, can I have Madeira please. GE has no coverage at all. :(

Where abouts are you in Madeira? It's a nice islandm especially the places out of the main Funchal area like Nuns Valley.

[edit] OK, the birds eye view pics are newer, about a year old max.

Seems like the more I zoom in on my house, the more up to date it gets... In one shot its still a school but on the closest shot its actually a house with the rest of the building site behind it. My car looks as though it could do with a wash too :D

The coverage seems similar to Google Earth to me, although it "cuts out" to redraw rather than blurs which makes Google Earth much nicer and easier to use.

Very good coverage in my area - far better than Google.

However, the images are very old. In my local area, they are at least 6 years old. I can date this accurately, as there is a garden centre (where I worked), which was demolised 6 years ago, and it still has plants etc outside it in the picture.

Had another look, some of the pics really are quite dated for me, and general Birmingham. They've not even started making the Bull Ring in the pictures, and my uni is missing a couple of buildings also.

Has anyone found any spurious black rectangles yet? There was one found on Google Earth that spawned a thread not long ago I thought...

Wow excellent, just found my house although it doesnt look too up to date as the big massive tree we had in our back garden has been taken out and according to this little program...it still exists lol:p.

Poor quality and outdated for me; my house is just a field! Google Earth has much better images of my area :)

PS. Birds eye views of London and New York are amazing

If anyone's interested I've been really geeky and found most of the major RAF flying stations in the UK and saved them in a collection. Sights of Fast jets in these pictures are as rare as rocking horse poo, although there are 20+ Hercules at Lyneham, and a Sentry AEW at Waddington (to the uneducated the plane with the big radar flying saucer thingy on top). Enjoy :)

Hmmm according to mine the birds eye view of london isnt available but the NYC one is brilliant...just rung the gf up to let her know and shes now looking for her flat where she lives...

Meh, these images are at least 6 months out of date. Buncefield and the Northgate building are still there :D

Although these images are so much clearer though.

No aerial photography for my area. :( I think it's because we still shoot at anything that flies.
