To start off with, whilst its based on the same code base/kernal, the differences in the other parts to it are rarther significant.

You don't need to use a CD Key for like 240 days, I got an Athens account so I'll use my CD Key I got in 240 days time.
What's the point in waiting?
Having a hypervisor is one of these such differences.

For those of you who do know about Server 2K8, you'll be laughing at this analysis.
oooOOOoohh. Well all you in the know can go ahead and laugh. So I don't know about the other things it does...but for the normal enthusiast/gamer who cares really. It's better than Vista for gaming, benching, and snappier for general use overall.
If you want it for other actual server use then good on you.

One problem I ran into with Server 08 is the lack of bluetooth support. There are a few bits of information on the internet on how to get it working but none of them worked unfortunately.
Just bumped the RAM up to 8gb and it is much much faster than with 4gb.

I find server 2008 faster but on loading onto desktop it is a lot slower for me, any ideas why this is? Superfetch is enabled.

Probably because MS has bolted in the desktop to the core OS. Desktop performance isn't a requirement of a server OS.

If your school/college is there then I think its worth a try getting it.
Its just confusing coz other people say it loads fast onto the desktop
my loading time booting into windows is much faster than vista ever was. Could just be the way your particular setup responds to server 08

Was very fast for me at first. It slows down a bit once all the drivers and programs are put in place. Have you used msconfig to remove un-needed start apps like Acrobat Reader or anything like that?
Might be worth doing a good defrag aswell. Once I got everything set up on this instalation, disk usage was 107GB 72% fragmented
erm i tried logging in to athens and wasnt allowed, tried alternative and was just told to find my college, when i do i just get

the CSH and library staff at my uni are useless, when my mates LAN went down in the halls they reckoned "a rat must have chewed through the cable" yet the holes the cables go down are only 2 inches wide....

Whether is rubbish or no, i've downloaded it with my girlfriends student details. At the end of the day, it's a free legitimate operating system, legitimate being the clincher (and novelty) for me 
edit: Although, mine is Server 2003. dunno where you scamps found 2008?
