I have decided to run the win smp and the gpu client. running the gpu client drops me 40 ppd on the win smp. But the gpu client gives me 214 ppd. Sweet.

I've now upgdared from the private beta version to the public beta version. I had the installer install to my Folding directory, C:\Fold. However, it seems to put all the work folder and config files in C:\Documents and Settings\BTI.

Is this behavior normal? I'd have expected it to put those in the same directory as the FAH executable.

That's a little odd. I did the same upgrade as you, but all of my work files are inside the parent directory just like with the standard client. Win XP SP2 and I didn't change the default install path, if either of those could make a difference...

Also noticed that the behaviour (

) on closing the client seems to be much improved from the previous version. I've shut it down a few times and it's always killed the cores immediately, no lost WUs yet!

Mmmh, I put -pause on the end of the service command line bit in the registry, and then restarted the service. 4 hours later and one of the clients has downloaded another WU and is merrily crunching away - any reason why? Am I being stoopid?

In my experience -oneunit, and possibly -pause as well, don't work too well when the client's running as a service. I tend to stop the service and run the client from a command-line window when the WU is nearly at the end.

This is correct. Services ignore those options as they don't make much sense.

Borged another box. I'd prefer to run F@h as a service but the SMP client apparently doesn't like it.

I've had no problems as a service. Make sure that you make sure that the service logs on as the user and pass you entered in the mpiexec install.

I have done service install on both XP Pro and Vista Business with out issue. I do have access to 2 dual proc boxes running 2k3, but they would not make the deadlines so cannot test unfortunatley
