If you ski 165s and that's what you're used to, stick with them. The rocker really does take out the length, but in general they're longer than all mountain skis, powder skis.

My 2012s are 174cm and I'd happily ski the 184s and I'm 5'10
 
I'm off to La Plagne next weekend!!! I'm not going to get much work done this week :D

It's still never been explained to me satisfactorily why height has anything to do with ski length, other than to give an approximation of weight and strength, which IMO is far more important for ski length.

Your height also affects your centre of mavity over the ski due to your knees bending.
 
Just booked a week away in la plange, will he hiring kit though as I can't justify the cost of kit really..

I have used these, have some good offers on some places, depends which village you are in as to whether they will have offers.

I very much recommend the Belle Plagne place, was not so impressed with the gear from the Plagne 1800 place. I may just have got a rough deal with the 1800 but the boots were more heavily worn andthe skiis a bit older than I was used to. Thats the luck of the draw with hire gear everywhere though

186 skis for someone 5'8 just seems too long for me unless you are absolutely hooning it down the powder. But each to their own.

Gonna stick with my Bacons this year. :)

edit: and those skiset options seem really bad! Only two skis in the top catagory (and one of which is the BBR which doesn't really count! :p).

Was up in the mountains at the weekend. There is a lot of snow already. It is fantastic.

You definitely wouldn't want a short ski on a powder day, but a longer ski is only slightly worse on piste... that's my opinion anyway :p
 
I've not seen this amount (where I was anyway) and at this level (fairly low down) for years. This early anyway. Hopefully it'll be a good base and continue to belt down all this week and next. I'm hoping these next 2 weeks fly by...
 
Looking to head away in January. The girlfriend is very keen on Austria and especially Kitzbuhel, due to the World Cup race they stage there. I'd like to go to Austria as I've never been before and the food/culture appeals to me. What's the skiing/snowboarding like? I'm more likely to snowboard most of the time and mess around a lot so don't need anything massively steep.

Any thoughts on good websites to check for deals, other than the blindingly obvious ones?
