It's not just about depth though is it? But submerged objects, you could get caught up in reeds etc and stuck.
Clothes too. Fell into a pond as a kid and got pulled down by my wellies. Luckily it was shallow enough that I could keep my head above water and clamber into the shallower bit to drag myself out. Luckily it was also one summers evening, so the water wasn’t too cold.
Walking on ice in waders with a depth stick sounds a lot like messing around.
Ice safety ... he must be too young to recollect ice scene from The Omen, that makes an impression as a youngster.
The signs and deaths at quarries and lakes in the Summer don't put people off going for a drown
Oh yeah, people go on about Titanic, Titanic... Let me tell you something about the Titanic, people forget, people forget that on the Titanic's maiden voyage there were over 1000 miles of uneventful, very pleasurable cruising before it hit the iceberg!
If you are up to your waist in freezing water and the only thing to try and get purchase on to pull yourself out with is wet slippery ice all around you, then sorry but you are not getting out and you are getting weaker with cold by the second.
Yet you can’t spell iceberg
I am the spelling police
It’ll be an interesting few hours when the rain falls onto all this ice.
All you need is a rain jacket and you good lol no heating on required.Back to typical December/Xmas weather now. 12c, grey skies, showers and wind. My wallet prefers it.
Can’t believe I’m warm enough in a t shirt today.
It's got to the point where it costs what it costs. Only so much you can do realistically.
Sky News had to bring out a news story that explained why it's cold when we have climate change...
It is what it is.
Not cold enough but better than this, shorts and t shirt weather today..
Usually shorts all year, but last week I needed a coat.
