Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

Pretty sure tap water has a shelf life of 6 months when stored correctly so leaving it overnight in a cup shouldn't kill anyone.

I won't drink water that has been stood at room temperature, it just tastes different to me. Water stood in the fridge after a few hours definitely tastes better, though.

BBC added another 1-2 days of sub-zero overnight temperatures to the forecast here... and reduced the overnight temperatures out to next Sunday to barely above freezing.

Hope accuweather is right in the mini recovery this week, temps have got a bit low again for me.

I'm not seeing much of a recovery - the models are showing a slight warm up around the 25th but almost immediate drop after that - then it goes into massive scattered outcomes as the next lot of cold comes but the models can't resolve whether it will hit us or not.

A temp increase of about 3-4C. If happens might just be enough to switch the comfort level. My city has fell 3C below historical average again since a week ago. The prediction is an increase to around the average.

I am guessing accuweather might be out of date if BBC recently did those updates. :(

Warm water will have stuff multiplying in it cold water is either too cold or too fresh to have so, a few hours won't make much difference but instinct says its safer to avoid. For the same reason we instinctively dislike bitter tastes, poisonous plant compounds are usually bitter

Becoming colder again by the end of the week apparently, I'm tired of this cold now 0c outside just now and not a lot warmer by daytime everywhere in shade is in permanent frost and frozen solid

Seems it's a UK disaster because the SE is having a little chill, going by this morning's news.... Ireland and Scotland all around +8oC

Been a lovely few days, sure it's been cold but no mud no rain. Each day I go out to feed the chickens and ducks early in the morning and it takes a few more minutes but I'm not getting dirty. The trees have been beautiful with a frost on them and the the skies have been clear and bright. It doing the ground some good with the frost and thaw, killing off some of the pests in hibernation like wasps and slugs. It's winter appropriate and for short periods it makes a change from our usual wet and mild Spring and Autumn.

Are chickens ok in freezing weather? Do they still lay?
