Winter 2023/24 - It's FREEZING!

I’m having to put the lights on this morning to see what I’m doing. Streetlights also on. It’s absolutely bucketing down.

The Mirror are still pushing the ‘snow bomb’ despite the fact it didn’t happen last time.

the words the media use these days to describe the weather and push their climate change agenda are quite ridiculous.
smash, bomb, batter etc etc.

if the breeze is strong enough to lift a leaf we get a yellow weather warning these days.

"could be hit hit with a sudden stratospheric warning" doesn't even make sense LOL. You don't get hit by stratospheric warming any way.

Media rant yes, climate change agenda. Now I'm laughing at you.

One of the potential problems with having the right tyres, 4x4, etc. etc. - you could have the best equipped car on the road but potentially not much good if the road is blocked by other people :(

Absolutely dumping it down with snow up in the hills at the moment, forecast that it's going to stay for weeks now.

Models are all over the place at the moment but there are some good possibilities in there for a longer period of quite brutal weather, especially for the high ground more towards the north.

I'm heading up north of Perth tomorrow via Glenshee and onto Tomintoul etc etc.

Should be fun now I have the new Vector 4 seasons on.

Maybe I should strap x4 rims with studded tyres onto the roof :D

Edit, Just checked the snow gate cameras. Balls.

At Glenshee, 2 feet had fallen over night, I reckon at least another couple of feet fell this afternoon.

Edit:
Also the Bridge of Cally looks to be damaged in the floods, so you'll need to take a detour to get to the Spittal.

We live north of Inverness and the in-laws came to visit us over Christmas and were due to drive back down south on Friday.

Seeing as they panic over the slightest bit of weather I forecast an extended stay .

My auntie and uncle were due round today but couldn't manage, town is pretty much caught off again with flooding, never dried out since the last time!

Yeah.

Seems like the A9 is open again in both directions and passable. Won't be up that way until about 2pm, so we'll stop in Perth at Broxden and re-asses the route options at that juncture.

Even coming via Abz is a pain with the A90 flooding and issues up the road on the A96 around Huntly.

Will throw some salt and bits of spare carpet in the car just in case. The X5 on all seasons should handle it, it's all the muggles on summer tyres that are the worry though :D
