I've probably said this before (have a terrible memory) but does anyone else's car take absolutely flaming ages to warm up / clear ice? I think the thing is the engine doesn't really warm up at all while the car is stationary so the blowers don't really put out much heat. Took 10 minutes to clear / demist the screen this morning (yes, that was with some elbow grease from me too). However, once I've started moving it's perfectly clear in a couple of minutes. Problem is I can't start driving without being able to see.

Feel free to boast about your heated windscreen / fancy EV pre-warming stuff. :p

Also, read the product on this ice scraper. LMAO. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KU5ND4Y?psc=1&smid=A1H6ZSEKHX7VGJ&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp

This week's issue.
"damn this car sounds loud"
It has been getting louder for a week or 2.

Oh that's it. The exhaust has fallen off and is rocking under the car

i blame the pot holes!

Diesels typically take longer to start blowing warm air than petrol but some cars have a PTC heater to aid in producing heat sooner. Cool air can demist quite effectively as well if it is moving across the window at the right angle.

My old 2.0 TDIe Audi A4 was atrocious for heating up in winter, wouldn’t even hold mid-way on the coolant temp gauge if driven at A-road speeds in anything lower than about 5c outside.

EV (and PHEV for that matter) has been a revelation in winter, preconditioning is a godsend on days like today.

My 2020 diesel Tiguan is pretty good at demisting the glass, and warming up. I don't mind sitting there for a minute or so with heated seats. Easiest way to solve early winter morning car issues is to stay in bed though. :p

My juke heated seats have been on since November lol, heated steering wheel goes straight on and I have to say the heated screen both front and back do a great job, also it starts blowing warm air quicker than any car I have owned. So 10/10 for owning a Nissan in winter.

Reduced heat up times, get about half way to work before it warms up.
Reduced MPG gone from about 60mpg to 54mpg in this weather.

The Qashqai I have isn't great - takes a good 5 minutes to start blowing warm air, does have heated seats but no heated steering wheel and only heated rear screen. Does have a PTC heater but that doesn't really do much before the engine heat starts getting up. The newer models are a bit better in that regard though, mines a 2017. I generally just drive something else when it is cold anyhow - the PTC heater is a bit of an issue on the J11 Qashqais and without an update can cause headlights and interior lights to pulse for the first few minutes until heat starts coming through :(

Personally I'm not a big fan of heated seats and would rather just be cold until the air has warmed up!, and wasn't really fussed about heated steering wheel but I must be getting older as that is starting to be more appealing :s

Oh yes, sorry should have said it's petrol.

Mine came with the heatpack so the screen and wheel is with it, it's a 2023 so things have come a long way since yours mate. I am an old fart so love the lot of them.

I usually throw a bucket of luke warm water over the screen, these few days it is so cold that the water melt the ice only to refreeze it again straight away. Never used too hot water incase something breaks.

I shove an electric fire in the car for 20 mins, no scraping, no misting up and everything is nice and warm. 20p of leccy is cheaper than deicer and leaving the engine running.
Have been doing this for years, just have to remember to press the button to deactivate the motion sensor so I can lock it.

I did have to wipe off the snow yesterday though... easy enough once the heat has softened it.

My SEAT Leon 1.4 TSI takes a good while to warm up too, it's a great car but it hates winter and all sorts of niggles start to appear when the temperature plummets like the rear wiper getting stuck and one headlight not levelling correctly. It'll also ice up on the inside despite doing everything I can to prevent it.

I literally wouldn't buy a car now without heated seats, they are an absolute must for me. I wouldn't say no to a heated steering wheel and windscreen either.

Heated seats are nice, I don't like the air in the car being warm as it just feels stuffy so in winter i'll usually still have the AC set to 18 or 19c & may just put the seat on if it's a bit chilly.

Obviously this is caused by condensation being on the inside of the windows. What you can do is blutack clear plastic document pockets to the inside of your windscreen, which will prevent the condensation forming on the window and thus the ice.
