They as in the forward group had all been blow to pieces, the rest were watching or climbing.
Mance didnt seem to send many men.

I was surprised they dedicated the entire episode to the event, and now I think back, I wonder if they started winding up the series many weeks ago.
Was the ironbourne and bolton get unbastar dised the last we shall see of them this series?

Was bran about four episodes the last we'll see of him?

Is that the last of the wall for this year?

Could dany sending mormort awAy be the last from that land?

I do wonder, as although many theads are open, kingslanding, arya, brienne we havent heard from in a while, (but she could be done for this series also) i suspect kingslanding will be heavy next week.

Does anyone recall if the battle of the blackwater, stannins versus tyrion etc, was an entire episode in one place, or did they scene/map hop?

As for tonight, i thought it was done well, covered all they needed to, but i dont rate it above average. Maybe just as the wall does little to ignite any humour or much empathy.

don't reckon that's the last of the wall - we've got Jon Snow riding off to find Mance now....

Also wasn't Stannis supposed to be heading to the wall a few episodes ago - yet has seemingly made no attempt to go there yet.... Melisandre vs some white walkers could be interesting - though presumably that sort of thing could be next season as I guess the Nights Watch is going to be too preoccupied with the whole wildling invasion still

Still frustrating to have to wait another week to find out whats happened re: the mountain, Tyrion etc...

While obviously its game of thrones and anything can happen I really hope they don't execute Tyrion or something happens at the last minute like the mountain (if not dead) dies from his wounds. If not then presumably Jamie will have a go at helping him escape or something.

I'd guess they've also got to go back to other storylines too... Presumably Bran Stark and his chums find whatever they've gone searching for.

Possibly another Bolton storyline then again what else is there for them to do in the North aside from fight some more Ironborn - maybe Greyjoy snaps out of this 'Reek' thing and kills Ramsay or perhaps they stumble upon Rickon Stark... tbh.. I'm not sure if they will make an appearance.

I reckon there does have to be something re: Brienne & Pod - presumably she finds one of the Stark girls at last.... though not sure how well this could go down as it would lead to a confrontation with either Little Finger getting rid of her someway or a fight with the hound....

Incidentally... I recognised Tonks from Harry Potter, Cassie from Skins, a couple of Hollyoaks actresses...

Only just realised where I'd seen Bronn before:

Well, seen that coming.

Though I thought it was the white walkers coming from the other side of the wall until it was mentions it was the wildings.... Thought this season was supposedly more about the white walkers or have they took that story out now? It's all the season trailers/ banners/ articles was all about.

SO much to wrap up and continue in next weeks episode....

Then another year to wait ... omg :(

I found the whole fight episode seemed very "short" because it was so much (but so little story progression) going on.

When all 10 episodes are out ill watch them as back to back again. Im guessing ep.10 will be a cut scene fest bouncing between so many characters.....

There's a few things, particularly one related to Danny I remember seeing in the season 4 trailer. I guess it will be shown next week......

I enjoyed that episode quite a lot. Not much of an assault on the wall as it was essentially one giant and a few climbers, the rest just observed. Which was a tad odd but I guess as Jon said it was just a test of their defences.
It was more of an assault on castle black I thought, another handful of wildlings helping out on the castle side would have won it for them.

I like how Ygritte said "I only count about 20 down here" which was followed by about 30 minutes of killing those '20' men :D.

I like how the wildlings tried to climb the wall directly below the guys on the top, inevitably getting themselves wiped out. Maybe walk a few minutes to the left, climb it safely and surprise them at the top? :o

It will blow your mind when you realise The Hound was also the Scotts Porridge Oats man :D

a) That scythe was EPIC.
b) Giant with a bow was EPIC.
c) I love any show that involves people riding wooly mammoths.

That was a good one, and now only 1 to go until we have to wait another year :(.
I hope the episode next week is more than a just winding up to the season. Looking at the title, I am feeling positive that there will be some action for several of the characters :).

I was captivated from beginning to end! About half way through I remembered last week's episode and had a pang of disappointment that that storyline wouldn't be continued until next week, but it only lasted a moment until getting back into the action :D

The giant with the huge bow was my favourite part :D

Yeah, all the people saying the battle would be just a corridor fight because of budget etc ya boo! :p

Great episode. Very sad about Ygritte though. :(
