Winter is coming...

While funny, I thought that was supposed to be last winter of discontent I was told and it's 5 months away.

To be honest I feel robbed of this summer compared to last year. There wasn't many hot days here.

Last year most of May, June, July was lots of warm sunny days. Even the fans were brought out unlike this year. Though last year August was really good.

What happened to Autumn?

You've had that already :)

"Extreme temperatures and a lack of rain mean the UK is experiencing the earliest signs of autumn in 20 years.
Trees have begun to drop their leaves, and berries are ripening weeks ahead of schedule amid the record temperatures.

The Met Office has already said drought status could be confirmed in the UK if dry weather continues after only 15.8mm of rain had fallen in July by Wednesday. This is the lowest since just 13.4mm fell in 1911."

how do they save you money?

Two ways.

The ones in beds mean bed is toasty warm when you get in and you can have it on low heat overnight. That means you can tolerate no heating in the middle of the night in winter. Getting into an already warm bed is a real luxury on a cold night.

You can get heated electric throws. Me and my wife have one each- bought at the start of covid for working from home. You can turn the heating off/ down while you use it. I highly recommend these!

an electric throw for working from home, are you 90, does your home have no walls!? :p :p

My house is old, fairly big and a nightmare to heat.

I was working from home regularly, pre-covid, and was sick of being so cold that I couldn't type. Putting the heating on to heat one room was expensive.

It is possibly the best £35 I ever spent.

Thermal bottoms and some insulated trousers actually makes a big difference - think about all the layers you put on your top in the cold compared to normal trousers on the bottom.

Normally only wear mine while winter camping mind, but if the heating goes off they'll be coming out at home this winter!

Fotrunately I did lock a two year deal in (wish I'd have done the three years now) prior to last October's hike.

But in solidarity with those less fortunare, and out of pure spite for these profiteering ********, I will NOT be turning the heating on or using the oven/hob unless ABSOLUTELY NECCESARY.

It bears repeating that a £15 set of thermals sorry, "sports base layer" will be the best £15 you've ever spent.

If you really want to spite your energy company (and the planet) then the best thing you can do is put your heating on full blast and buy some mining rigs, because they will be losing massive amounts of money on the fixed price deals over winter.

Yep, I actually thought about it as I just took a shower and realised I'd be doing them a favour by not switching the heating on.

I would have thought the fire in a far away land is enough to make some people rage to the point that if anything they could do with some cooling down.

Nah, keep those Himars coming to warm the bears feet over winter.
