Presumably it's:

(a) his awful attitude across the last year or so leading to him joining a joke league after claiming that loads of big clubs are after him and

(b) that any decent person who's achieved what he has would retire or, at worst, go to the US rather than turning to the country which is the biggest bidder and offers nothing else
Would he get a work permit? The whole rape thing?

If we spending money on a midfielder then we selling one as well, as we broke. But could be Maddison not Tielemans.
I know our interest in Maddison never went away and he had Wilson and Pope in his ear at the world cup and the small social media accident.

How long left on his contract? Is it a year and a half now? Think we offered 45m in the summer but you were after 65m.

Maddison yeah 18 months, Tielemans 6 months.
Hmm Maddison would still be expensive and Leicester extremely tough in negotiating hah

Maddison would be my preference to break down teams the way Leeds set up at the weekend. Something we going to have to get used to.

Whos knows.

Depends what Newcastle wsnt to do.

Stick to the long term plan or go for it since we are in an awsome position.

Looking good, I have been told by someone close to the club that the Varela deal is as good as done. This is the beginning of the ashworth magic, Fresneda and Varela. Just look at Brighton have brought in.
Great to see Kuol heading to Hearts. Should be easy enough to follow his progress. He didn't seem that out of his depth at the world cup for the limited number of game time he got.

Martínez pulled off a brilliant save to stop his last gasp effort.

The kid seems to be living up his transfer to the Toon and his whole family joining in on the act.

I think he's massively underrated by a lot of people. He defends brilliantly (far better positionally than McTominay), uses the ball well, can go past people, can pass, and has a goal in him. He's got it in him to be the best around in that role.
Only two players in the league that had +20 in defensive stats last season. Duel, tackles interceptions etc.

Him and Jolinton

All this shows is that both players play in incredibly defensive teams. Newcastle have drawn 8 games already and Westham have always been defensive under Moysey.

Neither player are at the level of say Casemiro or Kante. When you are dominating teams none of those stats really matter.
Very similar to Casemiro and Rice is playing for one of the worst teams in the league.
