Arsenal are in a situation not too dissimilar to Liverpool from 2018(ish). You have a very good squad and there won't be a huge number of players out there that will actually improve it. Equally you're not Man City and can't afford to spend £50m+ on somebody and then try to replace them in 6 months if they don't work out. The consequence of those two things are that you will now have to be very selective over who you go for because if you spend big and it doesn't work out, it will impact you for more than just 6 months.
He’s clearly stubborn and thought he could do it without one but is now realising he needs one imoGiven how he's a disciple of Guardiola are you even sure he wants a 'no 9'?
Looks like Malacia is going on loan to PSV with an option to buy

Broken link?
I suspect Villa may have preferred to sell Watkins and kept Duran and had Arsenal really wanted Watkins then you'd have got him. I've not followed your transfer talk enough to know if Sesko is your main target but Watkins felt like a bit of a compromise to me given your need for somebody short-term.I think thats why we went for watkins
Sesko would be risky for the money it would take to get him
I do wonder if the bid for watkins was to make it easier to land him in the summer
Yeah reading the whole thing you're right, some very selective uses of quotation marks. One journalist did the same thing with Amorim this week saying he wanted a striker when it just said he wanted more attacking options.Being nitpicking, he isn't quoted as saying a striker, just the need for goals
According to a report on Sky Sports, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea showed an interest in Tel. There’s no mention of United.didnt go to man utd because they didn't want to pay a £5million loan fee
Might as well rename this thread to the Winter Man City Transfer Thread as they seem to be the only team bringing in any amount of playersCity signing some Porto midfielder for €60m. Another Pep tactical masterclass!
Sky Sports News' Gary Cotterill at the Emirates:
"I'm told and it is my understanding that there will be no ins and no outs today at Arsenal and indeed in the whole of January.
"No business, we understand, at Arsenal."
Don't worry, he isn't going anywherebetter than paying £52 million to train Yoro for Real Madrid

Maybe next year then. Can't see us catching Liverpool unless they bottle it on a major level.Guess no point signing someone if they not the right fit and all that....
