Witcher 4 has been confirmed by CD Projekt Red (Hopefully)

I agree with Smokey honestly. There is such a thing as having a balance between dialogue and gameplay. Some RPG's have too much dialogue, and Witcher 3 is one of them. IMO no dialogue or video section should last longer than 3 minutes or so. It breaks up the game too much. An example (though an old one) of a game that got the balance just about right was the first Shenmue on Dreamcast back when I was a teenager.

Good thing you put IMO there because I completely disagree. When dialogue is this good, it could last hour at a time and I would not mind in the least. IMO, there is no such thing as "too much dialogue", not when it is well written. Planescape Torment is legendary game..for its writing. Same for New Vegas, Vampire Bloodlines and Witcher.

New Vegas is frickin brilliant, but none of the conversations lasted more than a few minutes in that game.

BTW why are you saying "It's a good thing you said IMO"

Would you have reached through the internet and slapped me otherwise? HAHA.

I remember some fairly lenghty conversations there, particularly with Mr. House and Caesar, although I didn't time them. In any case, conversations were a huge part (and my favourite part) of that game, and so they are in Witcher series. Anyone doesn't like it? That's fair, there are other games with less writing in them you can enjoy.

No.

Because I want to play the game rather than sit there listening to 100,000s of lines of waffle? I think it's you folks that have got it backwards. If you want that much story why not just get a good audiobook?

hmm. You want the game to be something it isn't and yet you think everybody else has it backwards.

If you want that little story then go play DMC or something.

The first Witcher game was a tough slog until a few hours in. I almost gave up on it but it is hugely rewarding if you stick with it.

Yes, combat was terrible but remember the game was built on the very limited NWN engine and these guys were just finding their feet in games development back then.

They should remaster it in the new engine IMO.

People have got it backwards if they think 1 million lines of drivel and gobbledygook makes a good story.

is your problem with the story or the gameplay?

I thought you said the story got in the way of the gameplay.

Might be a shock to you but other people can and do enjoy games with a decent amount of dialogue. You obviously dont, hence why i suggested DMC instead. Witcher 3 is not the game you want it to be.

Officially confirmed now: https://en.cdprojektred.com/news/a-new-saga-begins/

We’re happy to announce that the next installment in The Witcher series of video games is currently in development, kicking off a new saga for the franchise.

This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. We’ll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.

At this point, no further details regarding the game — such as a development time frame or release date — are available. REDengine, the technology which powers Cyberpunk 2077, is still being used for the development of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.

Given the wording that they are using UE5 and working closing with Epic Games for it, I'd bet on an Epic Store exclusive.

don't they have their own store and I thought the cyberpunk game made around 600+ mil profit.

they always did DRM free games too? why would they suddenly shift now. epics store seems to be for people desperate for the money

Yeah, they have GOG, and Cyberpunk did make a good chunk of money by all accounts - enough at least that they are still planning to release an expansion (ironically out of the two, GOG is losing them money). I was thinking more of a timed exclusive due to the 15 year "strategic partnership with Epic Games" and that they will "closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers".

Epic won't be doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. From the link Random_Guy_Esq. posted though it looks like they aren't planning to make the new Witcher game an exclusive, thankfully. Who knows though for other games, maybe they'll eventually scrap GOG and begin exclusivity with Epic Games later on since GOG doesn't really make them money.
