Probably. My E8500 wouldn't boot into windows with the stock bios of the Maximus Formula Extreme.

Annoying, so I have to find a cheap CPU that is supported just to update the BIOS

I managed to flash to the latest bios with my E8500 using EZ flash. Worked fine. You just wont be able to do it from within Windows - obviously.

It will depend on the board and if it supports 45nm CPU's out of the box.

I hope pretty much everyone in the coming weeks can! Say if its only like 1 in 5 people hitting it It'll be too risky unless buying second hand but proberbly will need to get an E8500 for gauranteed 4Ghz+ at this time. Has to be like 7 in 10 people hitting 4Ghz+ for it to be worth the monies.

This processor is called a evoluted form of the conroe processor and im worried about compatablility.

Please let me know if it's okay to run it.
