Women at the checkout - That really grinds my gears!

Hey, hey heeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy

The trouble is that you men have no imagination and nothing to worry about except your own well being. When we women go shopping, we're also thinking about all the tasks ahead, planning for the next meal, wondering what the kids are up to, trying to remember all the things that we have to do that you guys have forgotten etc. etc.

You want broad and inaccurate generalisations - you got them buddy!!

O.o

I hate too when people take freaking ages.

Though when I went shopping on Saturday, there was a que, and the same que was waiting for me when it was my turn. I was doing quite a big shop and managed to bag up everything quite quickly into my rucksack and carrier bags. The checkout girl when she finished pushing everything through then loaded up a couple of the bags for me to help finish off.

However, it was only when I went to make a sandwich that I realised my Mortadella Ham wasn't there, and was clearly still sat at the end of the checkout.

Now I can't decide whether that's my own fault for not taking my time about it like the people you get annoyed at do. Or, if it is the check out girls fault for bagging my stuff, and not checking that she had missed something. Or finally, that it was the woman behind me at the till, as she would have clearly seen it, yet she didn't make any attempt to stop me to say that I'd left it (I personally would have stopped someone as they walked off)....

This leads me to believe that the said ***** woman is probably eating my Ham.

Gosh.

I never knew that being friendly, being un-rushed, and using public transport were such annoyances to people.

Especially with the elderly - have some respect and maybe offer them your seat?

As has been said (I think in this thread, can't remember naff memory), people have no common curtsy or manners these days (this includes OcUK). :)

People who stand in the middle of a path, blocking it off with bags and the like is annoying. Because it causes a large pileup.

General stuff doesn't bug me, but people just getting in the way for no reason does. As well as no manners, barging in to people... the usual list.

One of my irritations about supermarkets currently is when a load of yobs from the local sports club decide they need some more funds and decide to pack shopping for donations. It's almost guaranteed that any of your soft fruits will be crushed by them throwing your cereal boxes on top of them and then they expect you to donate to their cause after ruining your food. I've given up on them as a lost cause and tell them to have a break while the adults pack the shopping away.

Not content in making me wait for over 5 minutes while she carried out a 28 point manoeuvre to park her micra car in a space big enough for a chieftain tank, I was unfortunate enough to be behind the same woman at the checkout of my local Sainsburys.

What is it with women that they need to take an extraordinary amount of time to pay for stuff?... It seemed that this woman in particular had to place all her stuff she was buying in specific bags too. Her purse shenanigans were beyond belief though - Search through handbag to find purse, choose card and hand to cashier, Ooops, wrong card, searches through purse for an alternative card, hands to cashier, 'Oh, Wait... I have a nectar card somewhere'... Searches through purse again, retrieves nectar card and hands to cashier... 'Oh, wait, I think I'll pay with cash instead'... Here's the climax though... Cashier does his bit, and while he does, the woman puts her purse back in her suitcase sized handbag!!... *Facepalm*... Cashier goes to hand her her change, and she has to search back through her bag for her purse.... Then proceeds to put change back in purse, her mobile phone rings... Searches through inordinately large handbag for phone while the cashier is attempting to hand her the receipt... Answers her phone and then takes her bags before her receipt, suitcase sized handbag slips off shoulder so she has to carry out yoga moves to get it back on. Has to sort of half crouch so the cashier can put the receipt in the hand that she is holding the mobile phone to her ear... Gaaahhh!!!!!

Grr!!!.... Me - Stuff all goes into one bag, hands the cashier a £20 note that I put in my poket on purpose so I don't have to root around in my wallet, change goes in pocket and I'm off...

Women and checkouts - That really grinds my gears!!

Edit - Sorry about the wall of text!... Not sure why that happened

Could be worse, you could have gone to a certain supermarket (super? my ****) where they charge over the odds and expect you to serve yourself

Are there seriously people who do that?

I hate slow people, slow drivers, slow walkers and slow shoppers.

I stay at home and do stuff via the Internet and never drive during rush hour! Otherwise I would have killed several people by now.

I don't like to feel I am superior, cos I am prety lazy and there are some more intelligent people than me out there but at the same time there are a very very large number of total cretins.

So it takes a couple of extra minutes to get out of the shop. Big whoop. What's the hurry?

People who try to hurry me along annoy me far more than people who delay me.

I work for a certain retailer which may or may not be mentioned in this thread. Many lols.

Not much really annoys a cashier. On for example a 8h shift they'll see hundreds of people through. Hell, everyone goes through the till. You name a characteristic short of dead and they'll be doing their shopping too. Everyone gets a smile :)

Even these ones:

-People trying to pass off invalid vouchers on purpose
-People pulling out a massive wad of vouchers after putting through a trolley of stuff then asking you to check if any work... let me tell you, it is NOT automatic and manually searching through 80 items whose screen names do not actually say what the product was is awkward.
-People putting a trolley through the basket tills - a trolley with a little bit in there is permitted but it then attracts increasingly full trolleys and when can you say no without looking like a ****er due to other trolleys already there.

Yes, various groups will arrange to do bag packing for tips from the customers, some are worse than others, not many are that good. They're just kids/teenagers who've only really been shopping with parents. Get about 5 mins briefing on basics of packing then told to stick to a till with a bucket. I have serious doubts on increased processing speed with volunteer bag packers.
