Wordle ** WARNING: THERE ARE PROBABLY HINTS TO THE DAILY WORD IN HERE **

I feel this makes more sense. Easier to guess vowels. But more choice around the consonants?
Taking yesterday's example of POINT:
If you work out that it contains an O and an I then you're almost there.
There's not many words which will fit that could start or end with O/I so you know those letters are likely to be in the middle and they're likely to be together in that order - OI
Then you just need to look at whatever other letters you've ruled out and think about the possible solutions. There's probably only 3-4 options at most for the word.

Impressive! I'll have to up my game.

Damn! Beaten

Beginner's luck obviously. Got the middle letter correct on first guess, discounted two vowels and had an orange consonant (last letter) which narrowed the options down significantly!

Edit: Just discovered the share option which says all that a bit easier... damnit doesn't format here correctly!

That'll do lol.

Doesn't really seem like a game of skill, just if you know certain 5 letter words off the top of your head or not. I'm not seeing what all the fuss is about, but I will continue playing all the same.

The skill is mainly around the process of elimination. For example, "error" would be a valid guess, but from an elimination view it only has 3 unique letters and if all are wrong you still have 23 letters to guess. Then add in other logical factors, e.g. don't ever try Q unless you've deduced there's a U in the letter previously to maximise efficiency.

Luck can eventually come into it if you have had a bad process, e.g. you know "W H _ _ E" but (ignoring certain words) potential answers are "white", "whole", "while", "whale".

Two good starting words could be "route" and "chain". 10 unique letters and every vowel. You've either eliminated 10 letters from the alphabet and locked in "Y", or you've identified the vowels in the final word. If only one vowel is correct you can be fairly certain it's a repeating vowel, e.g. "blood". Then you play a game of what letters are most common in words to narrow down further if needed.

Todays word I had the first 2 on first try, the last 2 on second try and am ashamed to say it took me an hour of looking at it and 3 attempts to work out the middle letter :D

This clarifies it somewhat!! Alright let's see how well I do :p

should have got it in two - first guess had 3 letters in the right places! But like others I misunderstood how it works if there's more than one of the same letter

Today's one was lol. Its often thrown around in various circles so annoyed I didn't pick it earlier but my deductive reasoning before the 5th go nailed it was pretty well engineered I thought.
