Words / phrases that annoy you

I watched a documentary on Amazon prime a week or two ago and in it, somebody said:

"The Company was LITERALLY a smoking gun".

It's annoyed me ever since, how was the company actually a smoking gun? Mind blown.

Brought instead of bought. I've even heard people speak like this. Instant flag and never spoken to again unless I have to.

This and 'chillax' or people who overuse the word Vino. :)

Oh and internet users who start their posts with "As a xxxx, I think..."

Yes, indeed. It's a malicious lie. It's a lie because anyone who says it is not thinking. If they were thinking, they wouldn't be assuming biological group identity. It's malicious because they're trying to enforce their belief in biological group identity on other people. If a person is thinking, they're a person. If they're a group identity, they're not thinking.

"going forward" annoys me when it's used to refer to some meaningless glob of words that a mouthpiece is saying a company must do in the future.

Ahh sorry. I meant in the sense of when someone acts like they are the oracle of whatever subject because they work in that field. 'As an IT technician, my view is right' type of thing. Half the time it's obvious they don't know what the hell they're talking about lol.

Not so much saying but more how they say it; people who go up in tone at the end of sentences. It's like a contagious disease, practically everyone's doing it. No idea why they would do it, it just makes me stop taking them seriously, it's like a flag that shouts 'I have an IQ lower than a glass of water!'.

Americans who say 'I could care less'.

The use of the word 'salt' to describe someone who's unhappy or displeased about something.

And while I'm here and it's just popped into my head, fog-light misuse on cars - you ******* muppets!

Those tossers who say things like 'thus' and 'vis-à-vis' and then spell it wrong (which I have just realised when looking up how to spell it).

I could go on and on and on and on... :P

Sure its been said already but, when people say "Anythink" instead of "Anything"... Grrr!!!!...

The upward inflection :(

"N times less than"

EG "15 is ten times less than 150" Instead of "15 is one tenth of 150"

I do not know if this really is considered correct usage (And if so when it became so)

But for me the phrase really grates....:(

A lot of my annoyances have already been covered, but one that I keep seeing and hearing... and makes me want to chew my own face off, is "on accident"...... seriously... it doesn't even sound right when you say it.

Thankfully I've not seen or heard it used in person, but I've heard plenty of high profile YouTubers using it and I did see it used on a respectable/professional website too.

Not sure if people just copy others saying it because it's some kind of cool new lingo... but personally I'd love to flog anyone that says it!
