Work shift preference?

Should take me 25mins to get to and from work. Instead it takes more like 55 to get home due to traffic :(

In the mornings it is so random. Sometimes you can drive straight the way thorugh with little traffic, other days can be rammed!!

8.30am-5.30pm and it sucks, I much prefer anything like 8-4 or 9-5 :(

Guys in the warehouse downstairs 8.30am-6.30pm (only Fri 8.30am-5.30pm) - I don't even know how they manage all those hours.

Warehouse staff tend to get royally shafted, often by people sitting at a desk 9-5 with no idea just how much working an 8 hour shift in a warehouse takes out of you even when your sort of used to it.

Personally I prefer slightly later shift, I don't naturally get to sleep until around 2am earliest (and no going to bed earlier makes no difference) so 7am starts really don't agree with me.

Whose fault is it that they are working in a warehouse and not an office?

Work in a 24/7 environment so
M-F it's 0700-1400, 1400-2200 and 2200-0700.
SSu 12 hour shifts (to give more Sat/Sun off) 0700-1900 and 1900-0700.

I love nights but TBH could do without the 12 hour turns at weekends.

It cycles on a 6 week roster and also includes a number of spare days which are used to cover leave or for various training/briefing/group hug etc. days.

The choice of one of the options would be nice :p

I am on a 1 week rolling rota of:

05:30 - 14:00
08:00 - 16:30
12:00 - 20:30

There are 3 of us so if one is off the 08:00 - 16:30 dissapears and there is hardly an overlap, plus if you are then on the middle shift you move to whichever needs covering :(

Not being able to drive makes Earlies and Lates a pain in the bottom :( :p

Before i quit my warehouse job i did a 6.00am to 4.00pm shift 5 days a week and the odd 6 days a week. would have liked to have done a later start. :(

Whats wrong with working in a warehouse and expecting a little support from those above you?

Maybe just ignore his snootish remark? I'd much sooner do something interesting than sat in a dam office all my life! That is the pits. Mind you, I wouldn't like to be in a warehouse either :p

I do alternate weeks of 07.30-16.00 and 10.00-18.30. I'd love to be on the 7.30 shift all the time! Get home when most other people are only just leaving work.

I do 07:30 - 16:30 or so. It's pretty nice, but I'm not sure why I bother with the extra hour to be honest, anything less seems to illicit dirty looks from colleagues who do less hours but at a 'normal' time.
