Who works over the xmas period and bank holidays.

Do you have no choice to work.

Is it voluntary.

For me,i made the choice to work on xmas day...as money was just to mad to turn down..

Not me, but if I could and i got paid, say 3x for it... i probably would

managed to get Christmas off this year,

worked last 4 no extra pay and i get the day added to my holiday entitlement weather i work it or not.

that's working in the public sector for you tho

I'm working Christmas Eve, should finish in the wee hours of Christmas Day, and I'm probably working Boxing Day too. No extra pay though.

I don't mind, I'm just glad to be working. And my colleagues are all really nice so it should be fun.

For once no, I have 25,26,27,28 off :D

got to got out to Lyon on 2 Jan for a training course which is very crappy though

Working christmas... PFFT behave yourself!!!

off 10th-4th, no duties, but will miss out on first few days of leave, due to lots of running around and paperwork/admin that needs done

I'll be on call boxing day (though onsite support is also in) and will be in the office on new years day.
Getting paid very well for it so happy to do it :)

Despite only supposedly having to work one of the following, I've discovered I'm now expected to work Boxing Day, NYE and NYD. And no, I don't get paid extra for public holidays. Therefore, they can do one. They get enough out of me as it is.

They've got another thing coming if they think I'm working NYD or Boxing Day. NYE isn't so bad as we'll be closing early.

Neither boxing day or nyd are bank holidays, so you'd need to work something else out with your management for more pay ;)

I'm a retail bod and probably always will be, working Christmas is just how it is. Tends to be that you always will work Christmas Eve unless you're lucky, you usually get to choose boxing day or New Year's day.

Company I've just gone to don't open Boxing Day or New Year's Day, which is nice :D

I have worked shifts overnight at christmas in the past. The last few years I've had a little time off over christmas (unpaid) but this year I've managed to secure 15 paid days off, partially due to a site shutdown :)

I could be doing loads of good worthwhile stuff while the users are offline though and may still have to take the opportunity.
