Working Christmas

Booked the whole of Christmas and New year off, but may go in the Wednesday after the bank holiday to help out if the pay if right.

Nope. :D
I worked last year & new years eve but this year I am Free as a bird in a tree.
I shall be randomly touring parts of the UK visiting friends, family & cheap ***** off any dating site. :D (ok ok I'm lying again. :()

Am buzzing this morning though. :D

I was only going to get Christmas day off, and wouldn't have received any extra pay for working Boxing Day, New Years Eve & Day. :(

....However, I gave my month's notice on the 23rd November, so I'll leave the 23rd December, and have until I start my Engineering Officer Cadetship on the 10th January at South Tyneside College off. :D

They used to close the place from Christmas to New Year and take the 4 or so days off your entitlement, but now they don't and days other than the bank holidays you have to use your own holidays or come in to work. I think they changed it because they kept having rush jobs to finish or progress in that period, and changing the holiday procedure was a way of getting out having to pay overtime, double, or triple time to get people in to cover it.

I'm off from the 21st till the 4th.

No chance! I've got 20th Dec-4th Jan off. I'd have to be paid a lot to work on Christmas.

similar to me - using 3 days holiday gets me 23rd Dec to 5th Jan - however the 20/th/21st/22nd December I will be "working from home" if anyone asks so basically i'm finished up on the 16th December as 17th is office party!!

I get christmas and boxing day off as standard but rarely take the 3 days after & upto new year, took it this year though

one year I hadn't booked them off and an emergency job came in, to go in on boxing day and work until the job was done I was offered the next 3 days off (not taken from my annual holidays) paid my basic for the week + double time for each hour I was there on boxing day

Of course I took the offer and ended up doing 27 hrs , I needed those 3 days after that heh

I finish on Friday 17th December and go back to work on Tuesday 4th January.

No one could pay me enough money to work over Christmas. It's my favourite time of the year and the family stuff comes first.
