working for your dole......

Nice, so someone who works in job center wont give out "all the ideas" potentially getting someone off benefits because they can't or don't know where to look for themselves.

That has totally been my experience with job center staff.

Also I have a cover letter I have written my self explaining my situation and how I would be prepared to do a work trial just to get experience that I give out with every CV I send.

I dont work in the Job centre, and I do give out people Ideas. Im just saying right here right now you need to do more then just be fed information you need to seek it out yourself aswell.

Why should the state pay hand over fist for these people for a prolonged period of time?
I dont understand how some people in here think this is acceptable!
How is its the states problem to educate people after they have left formal education?
Im sick of hearing about people who think they need to have their hand held by the state every step of the way.
If you dont like the idea that has been put forward then what do you suggest happens?

Good attitude. Like i have a grand to spare.
Always a barrier never a solution.
And I wouldn't lend to you either as it would be wasted, much rather help people out, who help themselves, and have done many times.

So I have a defeatist attitude then when I ask now I am some sort of smart arse for asking?

If you don't have a grand to spare how the **** am I going to on the dole?

You seem to live in this fantasy land where everyone has friends who will let them live with them and there are all these cash in hand jobs around for poor people to build up "capital". None of that suggests you have ever been in a position that does not reek of absolute privilege. Check your privilege, it really is uncouth.

Ol, you don't know what the real world is like, opportunities are plenty, you just have to go get them, they don't come on a plate delivered to your door.
I know full well whats out there.

I already do everything that is suggested in here. Any training that I need I can't afford to pay for, what else am I supposed to do?

Take a 3 hour job just to please the people who "pay for me"?

Where do i live then?
Stupid statement.

Just because I'll do whats needed to look after myself, i don't live in the real world. Ok then.
He can carry on with his current attitude, and chances are he wont find anything, or he can have a think about how he could really try to get a job and not just think of "impossible" barriers. Which certainly aren't impossible.
His attitude is fine, he's applying for jobs consistently & trying to find work - OK he hasn't ditched all his friends & family instantly or started stealing bicycles or engaging in unauthorised cash in hand employment.

If we want to assist people into unemployment we should attempt to make the process as easy & painless as possible.

Also, giving examples of people who had friends willing to let them live rent free is pretty ridiculous - as that's a luxury that very few have access to.

Perhaps you should consider a change of career as giving advice doesn't seem your strong point.

What's wrong with taking a 2 hour bus journey to open up the list of job opportunities available to you?

You don't need a grand.
Asking doesn't change the attitude.

Again have you even posted your cv on here? For people to look at. Like many other people do.

Have you been round town, have you walked around and when you see a building site asked them if they got any work.
Been to companies and offered your services.

Or do you ho to the job centre band in a few applications then go home.

Why don't you help him by going out and earning that extra £1000 and lending it to him so he can join you in your world where there are all these opertunities dude!! You just have to go get it!!

Like your mate, who got free accommodation for 6 months, why can't you do like he did and help, like your mate who lived for free (and still failed LOL)

Yup. I have a CV and a covering letter explaining any gaps in employment so they don't just bin it straight away, sometimes I change it up and put in stuff that is relevant to the company such as the last one I applied for who have a no wastage policy and green initiatives and mentioned that I would be enthused to work for a company who values the environment and how I would be more than willing to do a work trial for as long as they deem necessary to prove myself at no cost to them.

I got a 3 month trial then 1 month contract and got dumped because the orders dried up.

You would be surprised how many applications and CVs I send out get ignored.

What do you mean still failed? Just shows how you cant read. He gave it a shot, failed and is now back on his feet. In the last 6months he's done everything under the sun and under the rain. Started of day labouring for anyone who would take him, do the graft and they'll give you work as and when they can. Whilst you go get a job, no job centre in. Site, they're pretty much pointless. Go get a job, want it, research it, put yourself out. That has nothing to do with privilege. Its about wanting a job and going and finding it. He's now back on his feet. hMRC is paid off, got himself a full time job and is looking for a rented place. So yeah failed lol.

People do and will help each other out, this isn't new.

So it's gone from £10 better off to £50 better off.....

I don't drive and if I get a job where I'm only £10 better off but then have to spend more than that just to get to work then I should HAVE to do it?
Yes, you have a responsibility to support yourself, benefits should be a safety net to help people whilst they have no other options, it shouldn't be a choice in and of itself.

What about people who cannot support themselves, let them starve to death?
Nice straw man, that's not what he said. He said he could do the job but didn't want to as he would only earn as much as he gets on benefits so why should he HAVE to work.

Perhaps you should consider a change of career as giving advice doesn't seem your strong point.

The fact I have personally pushed and developed over 100 people into work says otherwise.

I spend months breaking peoples negative attitudes and helping them overcome there barriers to make them ready to make choices that benefit them.
