Which is unfortunate. Kuhne went for the ball and not the player. Suarez clipped Kuhne's toe and then went down like someone had shot him the back. Suarez annoys me as a player.

Intent doesn't come into it unfortunately, he tripped Suarez and that's that as far as the ref is concerned

Exactly. Malice or whether it was a professional foul doesn't matter. The threshold for a red according to the rules is much lower.

edit:

From the FIFA rule book (laws of the game).

Maybe it's just my annoyance of Suarez and players like him, always trying to get the foul instead of picking themselves up and getting on with it. I'd say they were like little girls but then I'd be insulting little girls.

Looking at the replay you could argue that the keeper got a toe to the ball and that the attacker made a poor touch and wouldn't have got to the ball before the defender so he dove, therefore he wasn't denied a goalscoring opportunity.

But as it's not a court case and the referee has to make a split second decision you can see why he gave it. :p

About freaking time there was more than 2 goals scored:p....Uruguay totally out-played SA and both Forlan and Suarez were immense i thought.

First penalty of the WC too and after over 5 mins Forlan calm as heck slots into the top corner nicely...and the third goal wasnt too shabby either...sublime cross by Forlan and a nice little cross by Suarez to set it up for another goal.

Bit more happier that my double accumilator came in with Chile and Uruguay winning...Spain messed up my triple though.

Not a bad game at all really.

Oh for once the freaking horns were silenced...actually heard the crowd more in the game whereas usually its the buzzing that takes over everything.
