Decent half for the Argies. Would be 3 or 4-0 up had it not been for poor finishing from Higuan and some great goalkeeping. Di Maria the weak link in their attack so far. Completely anonymous both on and off the ball.
 
Milito's never done much at International level. He's only scored 4 goals in 20 odd International games (3 of which came in 2003) which is awful given his club goalscoring record. Aguero, despite being younger, has done far more when given a chance and he'd be my choice to replace Higuan.

They apply their own audio though (for commentary) so it's not beyond the realms of possibility they've tried to superimpose a tone that cancels out the vuvuzela drone.

Unlikely, but possible I suppose.

It's definitely a quieter drone though, rather than just lower overall volume as there is more general crowd noise.

It could just be that not as many horns are being blown at this game :p

yeah but he hasnt been played much when hes been on fire. he is on fire right now at the top of his game and scoring on a regular basis currently. so what if he couldnt score that much when he was getting a game 8 years ago, hes scoring right now and he isnt just a goalscorer, his close control and skill makes him a good playmaker and sets up his fare share too, higuain has been useless.

aguero isnt a natural striker, hes more of a supporting striker/winger. he sets up forlan a lot, so the best line up would be.


Aguero ------ Milito ----- Messi

---------------Tevez -------------

Di Maria ------------------ Right Mid (Veron is past it)

-------------- Mascherano --------------


I would have Higuain on the bench.

with Mascherano in front.

The reason why they are dodgy is because gutierrez is letting everyone go past him. So they would be better off playing to their strengths. The best form of defence is attack. I would play 3 with mascherano in front against weak teams. Then 3 at the back with mascherano / veron in front against stronger teams.

So a 3 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 3 against weak teams

a 3 - 2 - 3 - 2 against stronger teams
 
I expected a lot more from Argentina going forward, apart from the goal they've looked fairly poor and wasteful and still feel Nigeria are capable of grabbing an equaliser even though they've not threatened much.
