Only watched the first half of the nz/italy game, tbh im pleased as punch they held it to 1-1.

For a team that much better in the italians, the cheating that was going on was bordering on the terrible, is there any need!!

Playing for that penalty, a typical con... fallon constantly being exploited by the two defenders jumping in to him then claiming injury... subtle elbows in any nz player taking a run at the italian defence.

No idea how the 2nd half played out, but from what went on in the first half, glad somebody was looking down on the team, the ref was doing nothing for um.

To be honest, Italy played a lot better than we did on Friday night.

Exactly - at least it was an entertaining match. Was pretty hard for the Italians to get a goal when NZ had their entire team defending throughout the second half aside from the odd break.

And another thing, the Azzuri have actually scored some goals and looked like they want to win.

Pretty much what i was going to say...Italy just looked clueless as they couldnt break down the NZ defence...shocking result for them and their next game against Slovakia needs to be a win and might depend on how many goals they get lol.
No. If they beat Slovakia they qualify. Having said that, looking at today's game that's a big ask.

Italy really have become a very poor/average team, end of an era the last time out, too many different and really not good enough players.

Funily enough a LOT of homegrown players who play in the worst of the "big 3" leagues and none of them look "world class". The stand out player isn't Italian and the last few good Italians are on their last legs, Zanetti, Canavaro, Pirlo, De Rossi is a cheat and constantly goes down clutching his face.
New Zealand really stepped up, Italy aren't good enough and even if they managed to improve they've got too far to go to win it, though considering most of the "big" teams are completely lame this year(because more than anything club football is more important to most players and its showing more every cup, which I don't care, Prem League football is better, more competitive and better to watch than international footie and has been for 20 years).

Still expecting Spain to step up a massive gear in this next game at which point we might get a clue as to just how bad you can be, and still be in with a shout.

Todays games don't seem all that exciting. I hope Italy pull their fingers out their bottoms and start to actually play some football.

Anyone in this group could still qualify. All 4 teams need something to get through to the next round.

If New Zealand beat Paraguay and Slovakia/Italy draw then New Zealand qualify! This could be one of the more exciting days of the tournament.

It promises to be very interesting afternoon, we could even end up with the drawing of lots.

Di Natale to score tbf. Though I'm not convinced Italy will win, much like France, they've been below average for 2 or 3 years now.

The thing is it's very likely that Paraguay will beat NZ, meaning the Italians just need a draw against Slovakia. I can see them grinding out such a result.
