World Cup 2010 - Quarter-finals **spoilers**

Go Germany.

4 Goals against Australia
4 Goals against England
4 Goals against Argentina

I was 4 years old when Germany won the WC in 1990. I lived in Germany for 4 years. Germany won the WC in 1978 and 1990, 20 years apart. 20 + 4 = 24 (my age).

lol

So now it will be Holland's turn. :D

Hey, I already did that! :p

Apart from the match against serbia, Germany's score has been
4 goals against australia
4 goals against england
4 goals against argentina.
That's incredible.

Argentina were obviously going to collapse against the first good team they came up against, Maradona's tactics were poor, subs were poor. Messi was poor, Tevez was poor and Higuain was yet again a passenger. Maxi Rodriguez and Di Maria looked massively lacking. Macherano once again looked like he'd got a dirty secret on the ref, 6 fouls before getting a yellow is just a joke.

I said earlier that Argentina are/were there for the taking. Lots of the big players have been average this tournament. Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney and Kaka.

There isn't a decent team in this tournament, even the Germans don't impress me. Spain if they hold the ball like we know they can should give the germans the run around.

I said in one of the earlier games against greece, the argies had nothing when Messi isn't on fire.

I really don't see it, Schwintospell and Ozil(or Oezil, seen both in papers and websites?) weren't great today, Schwineburger was great in the last 20 but not that great in the first half. Muller was fantastic throughout, he was picking out passes all over the pitch, dropping back to defend along the edge of his box and getting up for most attacks, scoring a goal, setting one up from the floor instead of looking for the ref and waving yellow cards around.

He held it up, passed it superbly, tackled quite a few Argies and was just fantastic till he went off. Schweinsteiger is most definately very good, but for instance for his last goal, it was more panic by Argies than great by him, the right winger on for a right back stepped up for some unknown reason making walking past him no effort at all, then Higuan(no idea what he was doing there) made a very poor attempt at a tackle while a proper centreback would have just ushered him to the line rather than commited himself. Great composure though, terrible terrible defending by that point in the game.

Klose was also truly superb, one point he got a not easy to control long ball, brought it down on his chest under pressure by two Argies, flicked it over them and almost set up a goal, superb.

Mascherano, what on earth does he have to do to be sent off, he finally got a yellow, about 70minutes too late, tackled late throughout, constantly caught behind the play, chasing and hacking at players, terrible performance that should have seen him sent off before half time, again, how he gets away with it I don't know, I really can't come close to explaining it.

Hope Germany win at this stage, they aren't spending ages down pretending to be injured, aren't diving(its Germany so even more shocking they aren't cheating) and are playing the best footie in the tournament.

Completely disagree with whoever said Holland are also playing well as a team, they aren't, they've been disjointed and can't link up in the majority of their games and have gotten 3 lucky results, even against Brazil it took a moron in Melo to score an own goal, ignore the ickle bald guy he was marking to allow him to score his first ever headed goal, and get himself sent off. Without Melo on the field, frankly, Holland wouldn't have come close to winning. I can still see it being a Holland v Germany final, but Germany will rip them to absolute shreds. The dutch aren't close to as good, they aren't passing well, aren't creating great chances, aren't scoring well and have had trouble breaking down defenses that aren't making monumental errors.

Now, own up, who was it that said they wouldn't choose Klose in their world cup team, because he hasn't proven himself to be that great after a single not great season, I think they said they'd take Rooney instead. lol

The funniest thing is this isn't even a full strength Germany, No Adler, no Ballack, no Westermann. Deserved winners from what I've seen, no other team has been as tactically right, played as well as a team and played such effective football. Can't believe Muller has got 4 goals in a World Cup when he's only on his 7th cap!! Maybe Capello should take notes on trying out untested players instead of the same old crap.

Wondered this myself. Should have had his first yellow about 8 minutes in. Snapping at everybodies heels. The rate that cards have been churned out in this tournament I was genuinely surprised he made it to 90 minutes. :/

You can say what you like about Germany and as an Englishman I'm meant to hate them, but I can't.
That was then, this is now. Any Englishman is duty bound to always support the opposing side to Argentina no matter who they are playing, in fact that becomes law when Maradona is involved in the Argentinian side.;)

Germany just ripped Argentina a new one, completely outclassed the so called classy side lol!:D

Yes really, even the Germans have a crap defense. As we know on paper even the english should have beat them if they didn't have the discipline of a bunch of blokes desperate to get on their holidays.

Even the dutch haven't really impressed that much, I think I've seen so much decent CL standard football over the last few years this stuff looks average these days.

I think these days it will be a balance of getting in young hungry players and a few older heads because a team full of older heads don't care. They know it's a step down from CL football and gets in the way of a summer break before the start of a new season. They pretend they care but the football from some of the supposed big players has been poor.

I wonder what odds you would have got on both Messi and Rooney not to score, ronaldo only got one because it rolled over his back :D

I wonder if Argentina fans and portugal fans went into foaming at the mouth rants about those not being world class?
