It makes me sad to think that Welbeck, Cleverley and Smalling could make our World Cup squad when a) Man Utd have had such a poor season and b) there are far better alternatives out there!

If these three played for anyone other than Man Utd they wouldn't get a sniff!

Would honestly take Carroll, Stones and Delph over those three. Even players like Wickham or Johnson/Downing if Welbeck's going to be played out wide deserve it more.

Italy manager Cesare Prandelli began the pre-World Cup war of words by claiming he wouldn't pick any of the England squad if they were Italian. lol

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...li-says-wouldnt-pick-England-players-own.html

He doesn't say that at all LOL

try reading the article and not broadcasting your inference from a headline.

He is actually very respectful

'Which players would I take from the English? They have some interesting young players. Until around a year ago no one thought they would be able to make an impression in the Premier League.

'But I wouldn’t take anyone to have instead of my own players. We are a good team too.'

Nothing rude about that at all.

Seen that said on one of the comments after i posted it, "So, another "rubbish" headline from the DM. At no point did he actually call the English players rubbish, am I right. More winding up from the DM."

I think there probably is a point to be made as I'm not sure that many of the England squad would get in to other World Cup squads for the top ~8 sides.

So Cole definitely isn't included.

Shame really. He hadn't played much since Sissoko raepd him at St James' (again) earlier in the season but he's still a very good defender. Can't be taking 3 left-backs though, right?

My provisional squad below, 1 GK/DEF/MID/FWD spot up for grabs indicated by question mark.

Hart, Forster, Foster?
Johnson, Walker, Baines, Cole, Jagielka, Jones, Cahill, Davies?
Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Lallana, Barkley?
Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert, Welbeck?

Midfield is tough, one could make a case for Barry, Henderson, Sterling etc. John Terry's retirement is annoying as we are a bit light in terms of proven CBs now compared to the old days of Sol, Rio, Terry and Woody with Carra getting all upset that he couldn't make the squad :)

Cole instead of Shaw?

So Cole definitely isn't included.

Good!

Rumours have it Lampard is included... what an utter disgrace if that's true.
