World Cup 2018

Smalling, Jones, Butland and Wilshire are rubbish.
Wilshire has glass ankles and is just not strong enough he has only played 90 mins twice for England.

He is just not strong enough in that position, all it takes is a few hard but fair tackles and he has to go off. Maybe if he plays on the wing or in the number 10 slot but not a battling holding midfielder.

I think you've got the wrong impression of him. He isn't a holding midfielder. And the bit about the tackles? That would be him being injury prone. He could well get out of this once his body has matured a little bit.

Again that means nothing. How many goals has he actually scored when it counted. How many goals has he actually scored in a world cup finals tournament..... being the all time scorer for MU or England means nothing without context, i.e in the context of the goals actually won something for England. BUt he's has scored all of 1 goal in 3 world cups. So again how does that make him world class ?? He can't do it on a world stage and its not like he hasn't had enough opportunities.

Messi only has two World Cup goals. Is he rubbish?
Ibrahimovic 0 goals. Is he rubbish?
Best never played in a World Cup. Is he rubbish?

I hate Rooney but stop talking tosh.

Love the abuse Rooney gets England fans in typical no brain shocker if he 'a so rubbish why was he the only player Uruguay put two men on every time he touched the ball.

Wellbeck shouldn't be playing football... for anyone :p It's not too late for him to become a hairdresser, or something.

Also not sure what anybody sees in Wilshere, seems massively overrated.

Rooney can stay at home, please. Don't even use him in qualifying. I'm sure he's got better things to do, like eating pies & frequenting expensive hookers.

I am struggling to be inspired by the crop of players we have and that could pick from in 2018 unless a crop of 17/18 years olds are coming around now at club level that a lot of us don't know about.

Maybe not 17-18yos but history tells us there will undoubtedly be some new players breaking through. Four years is a long time and most genuine top class players will have made the England squad within four years of making their premier league debut. I mean if you take the current squad, how many of those were on the radar back in WC2010?

Shaw
Sterling
Forster
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Barkley
etc

Trying to pick a squad four years in advance is futile, as is the idea people have about "building for the future" by blooding youngsters who may well get superseded by a new crop by then. IF you were to pick the best England performers in recent times, say past 15 years or so the vmany were ripping up trees less than 4 years after being complete unknowns (Owen, Rooney etc).

Finally discarding Hart seems a bit hasty as he should be hitting his prime around WC2018.
