I just wasn't impressed with their last performance so I went with Sweden.

Some of you may remember I made a thread a while ago about how to get a free footie shirt and some free money when backing/ laying bets in a certain way.

Hmm yeah was thinking that.... I'm sure I could lay it to guarantee at least £100 whatever happens.... Ought to pay for some new stick- on tat for the carMrWhippy said:if it was me, i'd lay it for the 300.
i think it's the significantly more likely outcome.
or you could lay it less to win the same either way, what would that equate to?

Now I placed a £30 bet on Argentina @ 9 (so £270 return including stake if they win the WC). I was planning to lay this bet, meaning I had bets on both argentina winning and losing the WC and ending up a few £ up regardless.
In the wake of the 6-0 pasting they gave Serbia & Montinegro last week, I'm wondering if I should not bother laying the result and just collect £270 if they win/ risk losing £30?
On the other hand, if I layed the result now, and they didnt win the WC, I would end up about £300 in profit, whereas if they do win, I will only end up about £3 up.
What do you think? Is it worth laying them? Are they good enough to win?
Cheers
No Have a look at the payout and liability buttons to see potential return/ loss.Sadgeek said:But if you lay Argentina, won't you just get your stake back ie lay £30 on Argentina would get your £30 back if they failed to win the WC?
I must admit that I don't understand how this (laying) works, unless you have a large enough stake. Betfair insists that you have enough in your pot to cover any potential loss so if Argentina were at 3/1 and I wanted to lay £30, I'd need £90 in my pot to cover it.

Did you do it? Who did you back on gamebookers?Bumhucker said:I've been thinking about my bets for the free shirt for the last few days. I think I'll do both bets. I know it's the safe option but I'd rather not risk losing the £30.
Personally I'd lay them now for £53.25 which needs a liabilty of £218.34 atm to make sure you get around £52, you always planned to lay it by the sounds of it so why get greedy now and risk losing £50? The other thing is that Argentina can't win as England are going to.Bes said:On the other hand, if I layed the result now, and they didnt win the WC, I would end up about £300 in profit, whereas if they do win, I will only end up about £3 up.
