World Cup Betting

bet laying ay..

tried to figure this malarky out but dont get it. Here's the dealio for u experts...

Probably like a few people on this here forum, i have a nice 8-way accumalator running on the group winners. At the moment, it looks quite good that 7 out of 8 will roll in thanks to that french bunch makin a mess of things.

At 45-1 for the 8 results, my 30 quid outlay would be lurvely but i've grown with the fact that it wont happen cause of france ( and the fact i've prob just cursed myself :eek: )..

but, if 7 come in, due to the match times, i will know for sure that 7 out of 8 have come in before the french do battle (if they win 3-0, and Korea draw with switz, france will win their group, but that be unlikely).. so the question is, would it be wise to try this bet layin thingy based on this.

The way i see it, if 7-8 come in, if i bet on korea to win the group, and also bet on switz to win the group, using the right numbers, a bit of a win could be had..

i could have course be insane and not have a clue *** i'm on about, but think there is some logic in there somewhere? ? ?

So, experts in the field, *** d'ya think?

So if I'm looking at this right, with Sweden being at 65 to win the world cup, if I was to lay £5, I would have a liability of £315, but possibly stand to win this (plus my stake back) if they get kicked out early?

Just sounds like easy money to me so I'm sure I must have got it wrong ;)

nah, you need to check the 'payout' radio button to see your payout, which is dependent on the backers stake......in this instance you would effectively be gambling £320 or so to get a payout of around £325 less commission.........so no easy money I`m afraid

When you 'lay' you are giving the backer those odds (you are being the bookie), so you would be giving a backer odds of circa 64/1..... so if they win yuo pay out big time... :eek: , IMHO laying is best on odds that look waaaaaaaay too short, Brazil and England IMHO will be good for this


BTW I have layed England, just havent showed enough IMHO

yeah laying can be extremely lucrative, but is also very very high risks for the returns- best used in conjunction with a backing IMO....

PS just layed Sweeden with a 5'er so they better not win! :eek:
 
hmmmm..

but i was more in the school of thought that if by friday afternoon, 7-8 bets are in and it all goes onto the very last matches, if the french win the group, the accumy comes in resulting in, for arguments sake, a £1000..

so, if i presume thats mine ( bear with me.. i'm losing myself here ), and its effectively in my hand, could i not effectively use that money to bet on both switz and korea to win the group.. meaning that if france come in, i win the most, if korea come in i win a chunk, and if switz come in i win a smaller chunk, even if only enough to cover my original £30

my head hurts

Or so unlikely to win eg USA at 720? Sure, you'd need a lot in the bank to cover the liability but wouldn't it would be worth it?

Naa haven't done it yet. I'll see what the outcome of this thread is and maybe do it tomorrow.

lost my owen bet but won on laying Sweden

Some guy had J Cole as MOTM and hes got it, won about £500

loads of people had England 2-1 was funny when it went to 2-2 on betfair forums.
 
that was insane...

started the night with just £9 on goalscorers....

then added an england paraguay double...

then added 1-1 scoreline £25

then added 2-1 sweden scoreline £5

then added 2-1 england £5

then added sweden to score 3rd goal £5 - just before i had time to bet on england to essentially lay off!

then added £10 on sweden 4th goal at 9's Wink

thankfully i've made £20 but needless to say i lost the plot as much as sven
