World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

The ref was shocking as was Motty.
The game as a whole went alright; first half we played well, 2nd half looked a bit nervous. Thourght Ashley Cole and Terry looked shakey but Crouch, Cole and Gerrrard looked good
 
Happy with the win, everything else was rubbish.

Ref was shocking, and the substitutions were dire.

Would like to know exactly what tactics the team were supposed to be playing to in the 2nd half.

BBC coverage shows again just how bad it is all-round. They are leagues behind both Sky and ITV.

Roll on Sweden :o
 
a ridiculous substitution could easily have cost us points , by taking Owen off he effectively took Crouch out of the game too :mad:

apart from set pieces there was nothing down the flanks and some of the defending and distribution from the back was poor

Yeah I mean what a change in the team within the second half (well both teams for that matter)!.. To me it seemed as soon as they sent Owen off the teams performance went down hill..(admittedly it wasn't all down to Owen, more the formation of the team).. and the Ref made some (well a lot of) bad decisions.

But yeah the first half was great.

Well Sweden and Trinidad & Tobago next, we'll see what the other competition is like in the group. Swedes can be a lot better than Paraguy on a good day with Larsson upfront so we'll see what they play like.
 
As has been said Carrick come on would have solved so much....
Carrick can sit back, Gerrard AND Lampard can go forward, no argueing over who should be sitting back and so on.
We should have destroyed them

was he even watching the same game?
 
I thought Beckham was awful, apart from that free kick in the second minute.
Downing was crap too - he had two runs both intercepted, he's just not good enough and neither experienced.
Gerrard and Lampard weren't great together yet again - which is why he should have put carrick on rather than downing to defend behind them.
hargreaves nearly screwed us over in the last minute.

at least downing got the ball up the field a few times without just hoofing it .

he aint a bad player but he really wasnt needed then

I dont understand why he put Hargreaves on as Carrick is a much better holding role player. the starting lineup should be Gerrard and Carrick in the middle, playing Gerrard and Lampard are far too similar.

Carrick is one of the best players iv seen doing long balls from deep, Lampard was just a waste of a shirt

That was stupid decision Crouch was just left isolated which in turn brought pressure from Paraguay.

Oh well at least we got 3 points. :)
 
I have two questions...

#1 What is Sven smoking?
#2 Can I have some?

Seriously, it must be good stuff because where that substitution came from I do not know.

Disapointed with the performance, happy with the result.

He had a couple of good shots from range but didn't contribute much else , Ashley Cole contributed less and Crouch was effectively removed from the game by the Owen substitution
 
I'd like to know what Hargreaves has done for England in 31 appearances - IMHO absolutely JACK **** !!!!

Please McLaren, after this World Cup is over, don't ever select him again.

That was seriously dire :(

Sadly that ref WILL get another game - he was exactly what FIFA was looking for - picking over foul throws and booking the keeper holding the ball too long - the ref should be as INVISIBLE as possible, not trying to get as much camera time as he can manage.

:p type downing in the search and the last 10 or so results are just ballistic moaning about him
