World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

Can't believe he took Owen off tbh, i thought wonder if he's had a slight nock and its just precautionary so we don't lose him or summit, then the news came, nowt wrong with him, tactical, WTF!!!!.

Just wait till Rooney gets a game, he'll not be on 2 minutes, get tackled, carried off, thankyou and goodnight, well done Sven told you so.

Agreed, I thought he was injured but when I heard he was taken off for tactial reason... I mean, how the hell is taking our only good striker off the pitch "tactical"????

Cant wait untill Rooney is back...

Anyway, we won, 3 points... Thats all that matters. England usualy either lose or draw their opening game, so I am actualy pleased. Sven messed it up big time for the second round.

I wonder what Hargreaves uses to blackmail Sven. After that match I feel almost as bad as I would if we lost. Still at least you can't really fault the defence, Paraguy couldn't really create any decent chances apart from that shot at the end of first half and back 2 did very well in the air.

Perhaps owen did injure himself but they didn't want the other teams to know and target him for it?

It was just a poor end to a promising start, the first half just looked so good for us but then we fell apart.

Was it just me or did the camera seem slightly too far from the action a lot of the time?

Crouch played well in first half but paraguay adjusted their tactics and more or less took him out of the game.
.

+1

Play him up front on his own, teams push up he is completly inefective.
If a striker has to come off it has to be HIM as he is too slow and not good enough to take defenses on.
Like i've been saying would happen.

Almost cried when he brought on Hargreaves, though Owen must be injured so was screaming for Carrick when I saw a midfielder was coming on & yet no, were get Hargreaves :(

Still important thing is 3 points I guess.

So with 35 mins to go we revert to 4-5-1 with the slowest player on the pitch up front who seems intent on flicking on every ball that comes near him regardless if there is an england player to flick it on to or not. Sven never ceases to amaze me and i was actually hoping Walcott would come on so we could have a bit of life. Why on earth are we defending a 1 - 0 lead so early against a team like bloody Paraguay. Absolute pap as usual from England, how can such a collection of talented players get reduced to that every time Sven gets his hands on them. Crouch is a complete waste of space too, if Sven isn't going to play Walcott then Defoe should be there as he's the only 1 apart from Rooney who knows how to score.

Totally agreed there.

Problem is Paraguay dominated the 2nd half and england were frankly quite damn lucky not to concede an equaliser....not that paraguay had any 'real' decent shots on goal but they had the ball most of the time in the 2nd half...whereas first half it was all england.

Like i said they were lucky not to concede an equaliser, paraguay really piled on the pressure in the 2nd half.

Mark Lawrenson on Paul Robinson charging down a shot:

"He's like a big banana, running at you."

Genius.

Owen Hargreaves for the lose :(

And Crouch seems to have no touch whatsoever, except for the one off his head.

We were rotten, but there were some good points:

Joe Cole played well, as (maybe surpisingly) did Crouch - at least when he had someone to knock the ball down to. What on earth Sven was thinking of leaving him up front on his own I don't know!

The defence actually looked quite solid.

Errm .... that's it. Apart from the fact we won the game of course. If we come up against anybody half decent playing like that we are going to be in big big trouble!

nail biting again.. i wasnt expecting a nail biting game.. but. typical england.. 1 goal up.. defend.

just got back from the pub and im pretty light headed ifnact i am a bit too tipsy really.

lookign forward to the 2 games tonight.

a bit unhappy with the england game.. but very happy we got the 3 points which at the end of the day is what its all about for the first 3 games.
