World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

So with 35 mins to go we revert to 4-5-1 with the slowest player on the pitch up front who seems intent on flicking on every ball that comes near him regardless if there is an england player to flick it on to or not. Sven never ceases to amaze me and i was actually hoping Walcott would come on so we could have a bit of life. Why on earth are we defending a 1 - 0 lead so early against a team like bloody Paraguay. Absolute pap as usual from England, how can such a collection of talented players get reduced to that every time Sven gets his hands on them. Crouch is a complete waste of space too, if Sven isn't going to play Walcott then Defoe should be there as he's the only 1 apart from Rooney who knows how to score.

I agree, it smacked of bad managerial decisions all over the place. Sven was trying to sit back and play the game out, left it too long to bring on a sub and when he did made awful decisions. Gerrard was pants for the whole match and as you said, bringing Carrick on to strengthen the midfield and provide a base of passing would have been a far more useful option.

Taking Owen off was madness as we've seen in every single friendly this year that Crouch is totally isolated and useless when he's up front alone.

Nismo - you can't seriously think BBC is worse than ITV... I mean Gareth Southgate commentating?!?

I was more annoyed by the bad replays by the German producers etc.

Yes the ref was absolutely pants, but that's going to happen - getting booked for dissent in the first game when you know the ref is a stickler for the rules is inexcusable.
 
Sven should be allowed to manage for the 1st 45 minutes only.He should be shot if he either :- a) attempts any contact with the players during the half time interval ,or b) suggests any possible subs at any time.
 
he plays great for bayern though , shame he cant do the same for his country :(

if owen wasnt injured then taking him off was just stupid.
 
that 2nd half was totally boring almost fell asleep,well my dad did. that ref was a joke,how biased was he?

subs were quite poor,should have bought walcott on instead on hargreaves. what shearer said was right,why put a midfielder in a role where walcott can play?why take him?

svens comments,what can i say he has no clue what happened today.
 
Couldn't believe they left crouch on without owen. If they are going to do that they should have subbed both of them and just sat further back since crouch just became a waste of a shirt.

Really wished we had seen walcott on, I miss the days of powering runs that owen used to make. I don't think its because he isn't good enough, its because sven is too cautious, probably hoping to bore the other team into submission.

We need a really strong minded player on the pitch who will just say balls to 4-5-1 or whatever and ignore whatever sven says and sort the team out himself. Obviously that isn't daddys boy beckham.
 
Can't believe he took Owen off tbh, i thought wonder if he's had a slight nock and its just precautionary so we don't lose him or summit, then the news came, nowt wrong with him, tactical, WTF!!!!. :confused:

Just wait till Rooney gets a game, he'll not be on 2 minutes, get tackled, carried off, thankyou and goodnight, well done Sven told you so.
 
What a disappointing win for england, played absolutely crap sorry to say. Borin boring boring football tbqh, they are lucky that they got that first half goal thanks to paraguay...not really impressed with England tbh. Crouch played well in first half but paraguay adjusted their tactics and more or less took him out of the game.
Taking Owen off was a bit silly, thought it would have been if crouch had gone off as he was basically useless tbh. He may have the height but its not that much of an advantage.
Anyways well done England on the win but sadly cant see them getting far with the way they played today.

Its no bloody wonder i dont bother supporting England, they play some pretty boring football most of the time....but seeing as i had some money riding on them...i had no choice but to support them.
