World Cup Group B (England, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden) **SPOILERS**

Dissapointing again,but 3 pts again so :D

Gerrard was one of the few England players who actually did his job today, along with Terry (Robinson had nowt much to do) .The rest were awful,A.Cole,Owen,Crouch and Lampard especially.Nice of Stevie to show FatFrank how it should be done if you're in the free role at the end too.

LOL... i nearly got it right.. crouch gerrard and... owen... where is he at

anyways... another really dull performance... we have no balance in midfield..

we seriously need a holding midfielder and Gerrard/Lampard.. not both.

lennon opened it up a bit... crouch and england rely on set pieces more than he/they/we should.

rooney has just recieved great match practice... obviously he'll get better.

but if we face argentina/italy/holland/brazil/czech rep/germany/sweden/ivory coast/spain/portugal

we could be in for a rough ride...... hoping for set pieces and beckhams perfect cross...

BUT WE ARE THROUGH!!!!! COME ON!!!!! 1

Anyway, typical England really. Take it far too easy against a "lesser" side and get desperate when they don't roll over and play nice like we expect.

Have to say though, fair play to Sven, he made substitutions that actually made a difference. Part of that was down to Rooney (more in effect than product), but Lennon was a good addition and added far more pace to our attack. Suddenly we woke up and actually looked like winning it, as opposed to the 20 shots and one on target of the first half.

So if Rooney can pretty much lift the entire team by his presence on the pitch to transform us like he did, why isn't he captain? Because David Beckham should be doing that job all through the match, regardless of how well he plays. He just didn't seem all that interested today.

A win's a win anyway, I'll take it. :)

Hmmm now thinking about the win, not a very good england performance yet again. I have to admit that they were very lucky to get that first goal....as i said before its about time Crouch hit something right.

If england play like this in the second round, they have no chance in hell of getting any further in the WC.

On another note, at least i won another £1500 :p

Have that Sven. Gerrard should play as an attacking midfielder not a defensive one you twit.
Gerrard ends up playing defensive midfielder so much because somebody has to cover for Lampard when he goes forward. You can't do both or you'd leave us screwed at the back. But because Lamp is much more of the attacking mid these days, he's the one that goes up more, and Stevie gets stuck with defensive work. You're never going to be able to get round that problem with that formation/lineup really.

Sven should play 4-5-1 against sweden, to experiment after this joke performance.

carrick behind lampard and gerrard, start lennon instead of beckham on the right. ENGLAND DON'T NEED BECKHAM, he's cack and has been past it for 4 years and makes the team play hoofball with good players. Rooney us front or crouch, owen can go back home for all i care.

Dont know why Gerrard is getting slated, he was playing the holding player and wasnt allowed to bomb forward, his passing was quite good (although not his best).

The only players to come out with any credit are Gerrard, Terry and Lennon (i was pleased with Downing too). But why o why did they start to play football on the floor once Owen was brought off? I just dont understand it, everybody knows Owen is more lethal when the ball is on the floor yet in both matches when he has been on he has to chase long balls all the time.

I thought i was negative but a lot of u guys are even worse! Send owen back to England? Just remember he is a big match player and has always produced for England, and his goals to games ratio is as good as any england great. I sweat some people just jump on a bandwagon and dont actually engage their brains first.

Rooney didnt do anything today but it was good to see him have a run around and take a few challenges. Lennon and Downing made the difference tho, they stretched their defence out..Joe Cole always cuts in and therefore makes the defender come in with him and so the amount of space to play in is reduced, and thats why all those moves didnt pull off today. With 10 men behind the ball that was always going to happen but the wingers spreaded them out and wahey we got 2 goals :)

I know. I was just voicing my frustrations at Gerrard playing as the holding player when most of the country know how good he is going forward but unfortunately he's got to do it.

Regarding Owen, I thought he played crap but you can only judge him when a player like Rooney starts playing through balls for him to score from. If he keeps missing the target then he'll deserves all the stick he gets.

hmm swedens coach is just as weird as sven if not worse. apparently (according to a swedish clan mate) they are going to play 5-3-2...

what makes me laugh is those england fans hugging each other when they score . every single fan in those crowds look like numpty's

Dont think I could have wished for better...

England qualify and Valdez nets a hatrick against the swedes later (half way there)

COMMON ENGLAND!!! (and paraguay)

I won £163,596.24p on the game, didn't I? But I didn't tell anyone what I staked or the odds I got before hand as usual...

I did a forum search but couldn't find it, so sorry if it's been posted before (ever) but Sven got his subs right
They were no threat at all so playing 3ish at the back with Lennon wide on the right & Becks dropping deeper won us the game I reckon, shame we had no idea how to win it before that though, no determined, defence unlocking genius still.
I've been saying it for @18 months now & I'll say it again, JT is the best CB I've seen in a long, long time:)
