Tbh mate becks has never been that kind of player or captain, hes the quiet reserved type.

And owen really has been in that rut for about 3 years, basically ever since his second hamstring injury, i said it a long long time ago, take away his pace and he aint got a lot to offer, shame really :(

Lampard - 4
Gerrard - 6 (would have been 5 if not for the goal)

Crouch - 6
Owen - 4

The midfield needs to be sorted if we want to get anywhere because right now we are scraping by with a dysfunctional midfield. Gerrard can't go forward and Lampard is doing precisely **** all. Equador is about our limit IMO, any stronger team and we are out unless things are addressed which, lets face it, under the management of Sven won't be.

Watch your language.

nice sweden game, sweden have been very entertaining to watch over their 2 games and i think that the england v sweden match will be very open and entertaining
 
Shocking performance but a wins a win

Lampard was pish all through the 90 minutes as was Gerrard until he decided he wanted to play

I fear thats the last start Owen's gonna have in this WC he was utter ****

would have better for us if that had stayed as a draw,although as the Germany group will be decided before we play Sweden, we might be able to 'choose' who we play in the knockouts :)

I dont think a decision would be made to lose the match no,but it would surely affect the mentality of the way the match was approached

i think england will go for the win and not really care who they play in the next round, both will be tricky fixtures, more so the equador game from what ive seen so far.
 
best bits of the game were.

Gerrard showing what he can do if sven plays him in his favoured role.

Lennon being generally ace

Rooney looking reasonable sharp considering and getting some match time under his belt.

Indeed, from what I've seen I think Equador would probably be a harder match that the Germans. There's no point us looking at what the other results are though, who ever finishes 1st in group A is the best side so we want to avoid them by finishing first in our group. I'd love it if we got the Germans in the next round personally.
 
For all you lot slating Owen, perhaps it would be better if our lovely team would play a ball on the ground to him for once. Not one decent pass in both games that I've seen, Crouch isn't an alternative imo, he can just about handle the lofted ball, but he's so weak he just gets pushed away if marked properly.

Give Owen a full game and he'll score - there's a reason most of the goals in this cup are coming late on.
 
Drop Lampard for the next game, just let Gerrard play football for once and Sven will see how good he his. Hes given Lampard his chance now give gerrard his.
