True but I don't think the ref saw the headbutt. I think maybe he thought Figo pushed him. If he gave the yellow to Figo for a push then surely FIFA can upgrade it to a red for a headbutt. Later in the game he gave a yellow to a dutch player for pushing Petit over just after that farce of a drop-ball. . I suppose it depends on what the ref puts in his report.
 
The ref didn't see it for sure, he had his back to it, not sure why he booked him unless the linesman told him about the incident (but I didn't see him talking to him) or he saw something else he didn't like.
 
Can't see anything coming of the Figo incident, what with Fifa already allowing such a poor ref to officiate two high-class (and cynical) teams. It would be too much like kicking Portugal when they're down than to have the balls to say Figo was out of order.
 
Revenge is at hand for the English, we should win this one with a nice 2-1 victory. Like the games before the Englaish team seem to play at the same level of our opponents so we should raise our game and we will see a different game from our others so far.

We have played below par, but we are still unbeaten, which shows & tells you some thing about our team ;)
 
exactly what lee dixon said last night, we aint even playing that great and we have made it this far already. We've done enough to keep us in it, if we keep doing enough than we can win :cool:

yes England are playing rather poor at the moment, but i'd rather they played badly and went through than play well and go out. I expect England to raise their game against portugal.
 
Portugal for me as well even though they are missing Deco, Costinha and perhaps Ronaldo.
Still dont think England have improved if at all, played pretty crap against Ecuador yesterday.
Portugal to win but by the smallest of margins.

Im not upto anything, id love it if we won the WC, but it aint going to happen the way were playing, and im not the only one who is saying we won't, we have been very lucky so far, and were probably going to get some luck now that Portugal have got some of their top players out of the match, can see us winning that one now, and thats just lucky for us that Portugal have got some players out.

He should have gave Walcott a run out against the Swedes, that was a match that could'nt harm anything win or lose, either way we were through to the next round, a perfect opportunity to stick him on and see what he can do, but i can't see him getting a run out against the likes of Portugal etc... not in games now that we must win otherwise were on our way home, we need our best players out there now, and Walcotts not one of them.

I certainly would'nt use him now, not at this stage, he'll be lost out there, be like sticking somone on from your local pubs Sunday League, you just would'nt, not in the WC, and in games you must win now or your out, be absolute suicide.

It will be a very different game to the ones we've played so far. Portugal will not just sit back with 9 men behind the ball. Yes, they're well organised but not exactly negative.

If there's space to exploit, England have players that could do something with it. There's potential for an entertaining game and it could go either way.
 
Honestly how can that Ref say he saw Figos headbutt?? Unless he's got eyes in the back of his head he cant!

I know they are miked up and I suppose the linesman could have told him about it but surely he would have gone over and had a chat with him over something as important as that???
 
We could do with leaving lampard out, he has been appauling so far. let gerrard get into the positions instead of them falling over each other. Sven wont drop him though.

We can beat them, probably should beat them, but probably wont :mad:
