So much wrong with the England setup throughout this whole tournament, the best squad of players in the cup and they just didnt perform. Lampard sticks out above everyone for underperforming.

Svens gone, lets hope Mclaren can put some fundamental things right.

Fair play to England in the second half for digging in, although Portugal never offered anything at all. Was Pauletta playing, because if so I honestly dont think I ever heard his name.

I havnt read the whole thread.
So i'll just sum up my thoughts on all this:

- England played very valiently when they went down to 10 men. The country should be proud of them for that.
- Portugal cheated a lot.
- England had at least 1 legitimate penalty shout (imo).
- Lennon played well. He'll get a lot of press for that.
- Hargreaves was by far Englands best player today. He was everywhere, he was tireless. MoTM imo. But he'll still get slated.

The first half was very even, and the match as a whole was until the sending off. Portugal although they had a lot of the play never really threatened that much, especially for a team that had a man up.

That has to be one of the best games i have seen in a long time.

The better team won.

thew better team lost. Portugal never played well enough to be the best team. that's why the won on penalties despit England being 1 man down for 40-odd minutes.
