a legend? :p what exactly have tottenham won? the peace cup? LMAO
Doesn't sound like much to be a legend at tottenham these days.
Established himself as England's No.1 - yes because James is crap and is 35 years old, you don't have to be a great goalkeeper to displace this guy.
And you are what Arsenal, Chelsea or Man U fan?

Fans love him, he loves the fans = he's going to be a legend, already is. Really took to the club quickly.

Don't tell me it's nothing to be Englands No.1 you just look stupid, the guy's the best in the whole country at what he does. Big deal eh?

I had to work so missed the game. However, I happened to walk past a sports shop that happened to have it on a display just as we got the free kick and scored - couldn't believe my luck. Bare in mind I'm in the US so that makes it a pretty long shot :)

My opinion. Our name is written all over the cup. We're playing this badly and are in the quarters.....either we'll keep on like this all the way and scrape it, or some of the big name players will suddenly wake up and we'll look bloomin' good along with it. Either way - I have a gut feeling we're going to pull it off :D

I totally agree. How long have the Germans just been doing enough and winning things?

So he's a legend because the fans love him, despite the club not achieving anything yet with him in goal..
I didn't say it was nothing to be England's No.1 (don't put words in my mouth), he's not the best in the country - he's the best ENGLISHMAN, he is no where near as good as Petr Cech, Schwarzer, Jose Reina, Van der Saar, Shay Given, Cudicini or Jens Lehman.

Apart from having our best season ever in the Prem and only missing out on a CL place because of illness of course... Breaking into that top 4 these days is as good an achievement as winning the old Div.1 imho.

I say that because Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were just so far ahead of the rest (Spurs especially!) it was embarrasing...

Yes you did, you were belittling the acheivement saying it was nothing.

I was obviously reffering to Robbo as the best Englishman.... you're just being argumentative

I'm suprised so few people (including our esteemed Spuds ;)) have mentioned how well Carrick played yesterday. I thought his passing was excellent, and really set a lot of good movements off. If I could pick the team I wouldn't mind seeing a middle three (assuming the same 4-5-1 formation was kept) of Hargreaves (to do the dirty work Carrick doesn't like so much), Carrick (killer passes and freedom to roam more), and Lampard/Gerrard (to get forward and assist Rooney).

Personally, I didn't think we were that awful yesterday. Yes, it was tough watching, and yes, we didn't play particularly brilliantly, but we weren't OMGSACKROBBO bad, by any means. Ecuador were defensive, compact, and patient, and we had to play round them, which took effort. We didn't have Crouch on, and I think that forced us to play the ball along the ground instead of hoofing high balls up, and although it didn't always lead to much, I'd much rather see us play like that again than how we did against Paraguay. What cost us our lack of attacking chances was (a) a misfiring Joe Cole (lots of tricks, not always much from it), (b) Beckham not pushing forward enough, and (c) all of our midfielders ignoring Rooney's movement and calls for the first half.

We've not been great yes, but really I'm far more sick of people complaining because they expected us to win by 59 goals than how badly we actually did play. If you'd watched England matches before this tournament you might have noticed that we're very rarely, if ever, a comfortable, confident side for an entire game. Such is the way of things.

Carrick imo was up for motm on his performance in that game, helped the back 4 out no end & made some lovely passes & throughballs which fat frank should have done better with.

I wouldn't have put Carrick near the MOTM award. TBH against that side he was completely unnecessary. The only real opportunity I remember them having came through a mistake. He didn't do much, but that was through the position he was playing. He wasn't involved all that much.

No-one got near the performance Cole put in.

The music they play at the end is "Stand up for the Champions" and then "Love Generation" by Bob sinclair.

Spent a fortnight out in Germany for the group stages and went to all 3 of Englands. Best half was against Sweden (1st) and the 2nd half was as bad as the first was good.
Got my piccy in the papers with Posh Spice and also had pictures taken with young Theo. Spoke to Sol and Rio and got a piccy with them as well. :D

Travelled to Stuttgart early hours Sunday morning by car, watched the game then set off back to Derby at 8pm, finally crawled home at 11:30am. (1500 miles+)
Just got to finish tonights shift at work off and some much needed rest to be had.

robinson is an average keeper, never really progressed since his leeds days

I think that's a bit harsh, but i do think he's looked very shaky in this tournament. I can't make up my mind whether it's Terry/Ferdinand that are the problem but i find it funny that whenever i accuse either of those two of going missing (Which they do) and leaving the other and the keeper exposed i just get laughed at.

The fact is that something was very wrong defensively against Sweden and we were very lucky not to get punished against Equador. If it's not Robinson or Terry or Ferdinand that is the weak link in the centre of defence then please tell me who it is.

For me Robinson looks dodgy on crosses and lacks communication. A well organised attack will rip our back line to shreds unless someone takes charge and that someone is not likely to be Robinson.

I got a bloody good feeling England can get to the final by these crap displays.
For years we have almost envied the German teams for playing dull , efficient winning football.
We are doing it now ourselves and we all moan because we arent wining 3 or 4 nil against inferior teams.

You can please some of the people , some of the time...
