Just fired it up and went undead to get some spiel about Putress and Varimathres doing an attack on both sides which would put the time line just pre Wrath. But I start just outside the tomb in Vanilla so will play along and see what lore path we go down.

Will probably dip into this. What will make or break it for me though will be finding a good social mature guild to play with.
I've fired up Kronos 3 to try Vanilla again. I've not played since TBC launched so it's all I know. Should be fun and I'll be playing at a much more casual pace!
Hopefully I can find a good group of people again. That's really what made the early mmo's. Imo you either have more convenience or more community. As changes to the genre have proved you can't have both. It's probably why no one knows their neighbours, because everyone is beaming between their work and home instances in their cars without interacting with other people

Eurgh, hopefully they don't have the ridiculously low quest log limit, one thing that could easily be "fixed".
Classic may be even better than I expect if retail will keep this type of player away

Was thinking the same thing, I've seen a few videos from current players complaining that it's too hard/complicated and that's only just playing the basic open world demo. Deary me.Classic may be even better than I expect if retail will keep this type of player away

It really does highlight just how much handholding modern WoW players have, that she cannot even work out how to accept a quest and is too impatient to wait for the quest text and doesnt even notice that the accept button lights up when the text is finished. Shows just how much modern WoW is just rush rush rush.

I played Alliance last time so Horde could be like playing a new game. Hate the Udead starting areas though!Funny, Undead starting area (then onward to silverpine and hillsbrad) encapsulates the feeling of old school WoW for me. It must be whatever you experienced first.
