World of Warcraft: Classic

Take your own advice bud.

As I said, good luck with the mindset, as long as you're having fun, right?

We've found... 'that' guy all.

"LOLLL, you rolled X class and spec for Y, you're so dumb!"

I voted alliance. Spent 90% of my WoW time as Horde and would be good to experience classic as Alliance.

This is where I currently stand, I know Horde like the back of my hand, all the quests, best leveling zones etc etc. I played from Beta right through to Lich, took a break, jumped in every now and then. Got back into it heavily for Legion and went back to mythic raid clearing and even sold a bunch of runs with the guild (made some pretty pennies doing that!). Jumped into the recent expansion, not feeling it at all. During this entire play time, I've never taken an Alliance toon above Lv15 or so...

I feel it would be a perfect opportunity to see how the other side operates, starting from ground zero. I'm pretty excited about it.

I made good progress considering how busy it was! Orc Hunter, got to Lv6 through the usual means, so glad I managed to work out the fastest route on a busy server. Took me just over 2 hours to reach Lv10. Going to Trisfal at Lv7 is damn crucial. Those 3 levels just come out of nowhere with all the new basic quests in Trsifal.

The PvE servers are much lighter than PvP, when I jumped in earlier whilst at lunch, there was no queue at all. Straight in. There is still some weird lag with looting. Even though I'm at 30ping at max.

Yeah when I was in I had 10-12ms, yet there did still seem to be a bit of lag on occasion. The player drop off is probably going to be pretty severe in my opinion, so within days we should see no queues whatsoever. The problem then will be half dead servers in need of a merge.

I don't think they will be entirely dead. Thankfully there is only one PvE US West server, so I imagine mine will stay around 'normal' capacity. If not, my friends and I will just pay for a server transfer.

Getting to 30 isn't that tough nor long. It's the 40-60 that can be a bit of a grind. But even then, if you focus and do nothing else for a week, you'll get it done in no time.

EU servers are MUCH more busy than US servers... We're at a much lower player count than you guys. Thankfully.

It's a shame you have to buy a US version of the game to play on US servers, rather than just select the US.

Here is the server selection here, it's 1240 (lunch) here in SF.

I'm regretting rolling on a pvp server, with sharding we arent all together, there are no big battles at xroads or at TM, it doesnt feel like vanilla, think I'm gonna change to pyrewood and just relax

Rolling on a PvE server was the best idea for me. I've seen a few pvp activated alliance in Ashenvale and had a couple of battles with them. But it's nice to wait for it to deactivate and then just go about my business.

I do have another issue though... I'm an alt-aholic... I've got a Lv28 hunter, Lv18 Rogue, Lv14 mage and a Lv12 warrior... The mage is WAYYYY too much fun right now. So I'm dropping my hunter and maining the mage I think.

Either way, taking my time, I'm in no rush to get to 60 at this point, as I thought I would be. But I'm just enjoying sinking in a few hours here and there and leveling. And now I've got several toons out of the starter zone, I don't mind jumping between them when one gets boring.

Spirit tap is good for solo play, useless/wasted talent points for dungeons. Same with wand talents so I dont bother with those. Doing ok. :)

As above, get a wand, dont burn all your mana on just one mob, do green/yellow quests.

If you really want to solo level play shadow priest till 60. :D

I forgot how easy it is to level a SP, I've got 5 'mains' now lol, a true alt-aholic. I started a SP last night, got to Lv15, with a wand it's zero down time, a little slower to kill but it will only get faster. It's so much fun! But I'm changing focus back to my Lv30 hunter.

What Jokester said. The enchanter crafted wands are great at low level. I shield, smite, SWPain and wand to death. Rinse and repeat. When you get fear use that as get out of jail. Alternate points in Spirit tap and wand specialisation. Then two in improved SWPain and three in Shadow focus. There are guides after that, I can't remember where they go next. Don't just use the max rank of spells. Sometimes lvl 1 will do the job.

Shield plus inner fire will mitigate most damage. Wand plus talents is the key.

I'd suggest your first 5 points in Spirit tap, with a greater magic wand (you do more than enough damage), then once you're 5/5 put 2 into improved SWP (reason being is that if you pull 2, you'll want to drop SWP on both and the secondary mob will take more damage from the increased duration) and 3 into Shadow focus. Then at 20 get Mind flay, then move over to get wand talen. As at that point, wands damage starts to tail off so you'll see the most benefit then.

As for rotation, at that level, it should be MB > SW : P > PW:S > Wand, maybe throw in a Smite before MB if you fancy killing a bit quicker, with the spirit talent, you should never be OOM or even close. Always full. If you pull more than a couple, you have a full mana pool to use.

Once you have mind flay at 20, drop Smite, it's not efficient. Use mind flay to sap away running enemies. My rotation hasn't failed yet and I doubt it will anytime soon. However I know others prefer to open with SW : P simply for the extra tick or 2. But the con is the mob gets to you before you're done casting so you'll need to have put up shield first, which if you pull 2, it may drop sooner rather than later which is never a good thing.

Buffs, always use Inner Fire and PW:F, kind of a given, if playing a undead priest, Touch of Weakness is always nice to cast after looting a mob as it's low cost yet helps lower damage should your shield go.

This weekend has been a mess over this side of the pond, constant DDOS attacks, including just now. All US servers are down again.

You'd think they'd have better protection than this :(

I rolled a Horde Shammy on Gehennas, and as much as I'm loving treading the path of 15 years ago I'm getting sick of the queues. If I forget to remotely log in around half 2 while I'm at work then by the time I get home there's a minimum 3 hour wait! Bit lonely on there as well as none of my mates have decided to jump back in.

I've now rolled a Gnome Mage on Firelash called Lofty, so if anyone could be kind enough to invite me to a guild for a bit of company I'd be made up :)

Absolutely loving it so far, so many memories and so many things I'd forgot about. Great sense of community so far with the fly by buffs and heals etc. I don't have the same amount of time to sink into it as I did back then - saw the sun come up on far too many occasions at the end of a session, but I'm enjoying the more relaxed pace rather the the rush to 60.

I've been taking my sweet time, I've also gotten a alt addiction it seems!

I've never actually played as Alliance so its kinda like a whole new game on this Gnome. I used to have a LOT of alts back in the day but I can't see me having the time to sink into that anymore. One or two should be more than enough.

Skip forward 6 months and I'll probably have 1 of each class though, haha!

My thought process behind it is, I've got this month off, so it's a good time to make all the alts to the point they are getting their core class abilities. So when I'm back at work, I can alter between them to keep it feeling fresh. I too have never played alliance though, and it is really tempting, however none of my friends over here play Alliance so I'll have no one to group with.

That and I've got 40g spread over all my alts already through professions and stuff and getting some good early on sales on the AH. Would be annoying starting all of that over again lol.

As with vanilla release, the inevitability of bugs of new systems they brought in would be found. And it has, I imagine some form of punishment will be taken, maybe those that have undertaken the exploit will have their gold removed.

As for the market, it will iron out in a month or so. I'm not overly fussed, I'm just glad it's this one issue that's arisen and not all of the previous ones the first time they released vanilla lol
