Levelling on retail is extremely fast, going from 1-50 in the current game is absolutely nothing like going from 1-50 in classic/vanilla.

I played the recent free weekend and got a fresh character to level 30 within a couple of days of fairly light play.

Can imagine I’ve played 4 hours & im level 20 already on a monk hopefully it will stay this fast

Retail has an option called 'War Mode' now that basically lets you swap between a PvP and a PvE world environment

10% if horde, 30% if Alliance master race, just cos we're better! (In reality its cos there are so little of us we need some reason to turn it on and risk getting outnumbered 10-1!)

Also, it's only available from level 20.

I've levelled 5 toons since pre patch and boosted 1 (which I got for buying shadowlands). I've settled on Warrior main (fury with prot secondary) and a priest alt. Not sure what spec I'll go with priest. I much prefer holy healing over disc but it seems no one will really want a holy priest because disc is so over powered. I tried to run a levelling dungeon as disc and ended up having to span shadow mending a lot as attonement just didn't seem to be doing enough (this was around level 28 but I don't see anymore healing spells to unlock in my spell book).

I really struggled healing Dire Maul on my levelling Disc Priest the other day, same as you I had run out of spells constantly so had to spam Shadow Mending, I think once I hit 31 you get Holy Nova which will help, think I am at 30 at the moment, but I rarely play the Priest.

Atonement seems pretty broken at lower levels, in a bad way. Something to do with scaling by the looks of it, as once you hit max level it's totally fine and disc is pretty great.
 
Some good news I managed to get my characters back from 10 YEARS ago lol ! looks like there is indeed a bug that will not show you you're characters unless you click on the realm , I totally forgot the realm but luckily a blizz GM found it all for me , I had a level 60 Mage Priest & Druid , I joined a Guild and then explained to them I've come back after 10 years and showed them all my Grand Marshall Mage staff that still looks pretty cool today after all these years.

Levelling is now crazy FAST ! I started on the War efforts and I have gone from level 30 to 43 in about 6 hours of game play. really enjoying the retail side of the game after so many years.... still kinda have no idea what I am meant to be doing but the plan is get to level 50 ready for the new expansion next week , but its sure good to be back in the world of wow and it still has such a strong fanbase that is great too see.

I'm still baffled how I have a level 50 Mage Horde on my account thou with 40k Gold. as I never played that class lol ! But ill defo give it a Blast in the new expansion.

also whats the cheapest place to buy the expansion as I don't have it yet ?
 
Ha I was in a similar situation. I had characters on realms that only showed after I clicked into the realm. I also had random characters which I presume were gold botters from when my account was hacked years ago. That could be what your random characters are too?

I'm also really enjoying the game again as the new levelling speed allows me to try out lots of different classes and specs. It also means you can really enjoy an expansion without burning out on levelling. I did a new hunter 1-5 purely in BfA zones and now I'm doing an alt 1-50 purely in Legion zones and then another purely in WoD zones. It makes the expansions feel like their own distinct game and I feel more invested in each one.

I'm also surprised how good it looks on max. Some of the jungles in BfA are beautiful.
 
My account did get hacked 3 years ago so my guess is with this new pre patch blizz some how reinstated the hackers gold alt because I 100% never had a level 120 Mage on my account obviously now at 50 in the pre patch, what is everyone new currently doing at level 50 before shadow lands ? Should I be grinding some where or just wait for the update now on Tue ?​

If you are just fresh dinged etc, you can do the prepatch questline that eventually sends you to kill nathanos in eastern plaguelands for a 110 weapon, and on to icecrown where you can kill rares for 100/110 gear, and turn in currency earned from dailies and killing mobs/rares for 100 gear. Handy for making those first few levels in shadowlands levelling a bit easier!
