But shelling a clearly marked UNFIFIL building, and killing 4 soldiers while they were in a bunker can't be an accident?

Im sure it can be and was one.

War isnt fun and games and there is a lot of pressure on people and mistakes are bound to happen

if it had been a single air raid it could have been claimed to have been a mistake, but the fact that it had been shelled 14 times shortly before hand sort of rules that out and not only that but the rescue party that were trying to clear the rubble were also reputedly attacked also.

Well they might have MISTAKEN them for Hezbollah Militants.

You say it was an Air raid which means you are either far away and on the ground so cant see the markings on the thing and only have co-ordinates to go by, or you are in a Fighter Jet Flying Extremely fast and as soon as the Co-ordinates and target comes up you have to fire. Theres no Time to look around because if you did you would miss the target

They were in a UNIFIL building which had been there for years. It was clearly not a Hizbollah building, and Israel must've known that.

as i said if it had been just the air raid it could have been claimed to have been a mistake but the fact that they had attacked 14 times before with artillery and after the airstrike attacked the rescue sort of rules that out

the unifil buildings have been there since at least the 1980's if not 1970's and the men killed were hiding from the shelling in a bunker

There must have been a reason...They must have had it mismarked on their maps or something..

What possible reason would Israel have for attacking ONE UN observation post? The fact it was done repeatedly shows something was up.

UNFIL was created in '78, but how do you know when this site was occupied by them?

edit: BTW the I in UNFIL stands for Interim, they were onkly meant to be there for 6 months ...

Hezbollah have launched their rockets into Israel from sites right next to UNFIL positions, its possible that the counterfire mission screwed up and ended up attacking the UNFIL site thinking it was a Hezbollah site.

Hezbollah rockets seem fairly mobile as well and the interesting part is Iran and Syria are using Lebanon as the player against Israel, the rockets iirc were supplied by Iran and Syria.

linkeh

a report on the bbc these incidents were widely reported on the uk media at the time

Ah...so it was a single incident...Your post made it sound like they were deliberately going after civilians after telling them to flee..

So they attacked one convoy...that they attacked one convoy implies they knew something about that particular convoy...

Indeed...Im just wondering why those saying it was deliberate are doing so..What are their reasons for thinking Israel would deliberately take out a UN observation post.

nope there were numerous attacks reputedly this report covers just one

The problem is this...and its always been this way...

When you are fighting terrorists in cities, ALA hamas and hezbollah...They are terrorists while they are shooting at you, but when they are dead, another gunman will take the rifle and the body becomes a civilian...

Could just so be that the "Civillians" you are saying that got killed were Hezbollah if balddog is right
