World War Z

Faster than humanly possible Zombies?

No thanks. Might as well have a film about rabid dogs if that's what scares you.

Slow zombies are much scarier if done right.

Sure, it will probably be enjoyable in the end, it's just disappointing when they use the license but don't respect the source material. They could have called it something else and let somebody else make a more faithful film or tv series. It's a waste of the license if you liked the book.

that thread was about the filming in glasgow this is about the film

we were discussing the film and trailer in there to save a new thread, but heyho.

The trailer makes the film look better than the preview, still don't like the CGI super zombies though. I don't mind running zombies, just not cartoonish.

Have to agree with what I've read elsewhere, I prefer slow zombies but find it hard to believe a trained force couldn't easily fight them off. Reminds me of Land of the Dead...

...when the zombies are at the fence and manage to over run the soldiers, you'd think they'd know to single shot to the head and easily put them all down after living with zombies for a while.

I'll probably still watch this film and moan about it afterwards haha

No idea about the book

THe trailer looks decent enough Zombie Flood tidal wave style lol... kinda wtf scarey.

Yes im sure its terrible compared t the book but so few people will have read it i doubt it matters, it will be a box office smash.

just makes me wanna scream "pills here" over and over.

Fantastic book. Im reading it for the second time now. Best zombie book Ive ever read. Its told as a sort of documentary style. I will definitely be watching this.

looks fricking awesome! And yes i have read the book.

A problem with other Zed movies is lack of budget ie too few zombies for what is a global pandemic, this movie has the cash and the shot where zombies were clambering on top of each other making an almost hil of zombies was fricking scary!

Walking Dead we see zeds being stopped by a chainlink fence, this movie shows that that would not stop a stampede!!!!!!

Film looks good to me, definitely give it a watch whne it's out.

I think a poll might be called for here - fast zombies or slow zombies?

My preference I think is fast zombies, I mean with the slow ones you've got time for a cuppa and a quick smoke, but with the fast ones you know you've got to do something and do it very quickly!

This country would not last 5 minutes because we have no guns. If the Zombie apocalypse did happen, of course it would be easy at the start. It's the later days where 99% of the population have been infected, that's when the slow zombies are a problem. Even the most easiest of tasks would be a race against time, because you everybody wants to eat you.

Everybody who likes zombies should get a copy of the Day by Day Armageddon books by J L Bourne. They are awesome.

Not read the book. But this is my opinion towards adaptions that divert from the source material so much.

Big one for me was Wanted. Mark Millar's comic book was brilliant, the film uses the bare back bone of the story, but then changes every detail of the world and the characters. It's not even remotely like the comic, and just basically destroyed any chance of a true adaption. Lost a massive chunk of respect for Millar allowing them to do that.

I've read the book, and quite frankly I don't care if the film has little to do with it. It's a Zombie film with what looks like a shedload of action. A definite watch for me.

I was hoping it'd be a documentary style film like the book, which was less about zombies but more about how people would cope in an end of days type situation. Though that would have been better suited as a TV series as there are many separate tales in the book. The film is pretty weird though, it looks more like the battle for Helm's Deep set in our world, which would be fun to watch.

Also the sooner the 'BRRRRRRRM!!!' school of soundtrack composing goes out of fashion the better. Everything sounds the same!

Agree with this.

I've always preferred the idea of slow moving zombies as the way it should be done but it irritates me that they can take out a group/groups of fully armed soldiers. Form a line, headshot, rinse and repeat = victory. They will win eventually due to sheer numbers and the fact they are relentless (which is what makes it so scary) but to see them roll over army units etc is just bull.

Also, on topic, film looks quite good having never read the book (which I think I will now :p)
