Worst car I've ever driven

Today I had to drive my mate's wife's car. A (so she says) wonderful Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 LS Automatic.

This thing is so slow it is actually dangerous. Accellerating off a roundabout from say 20mph took an absolute age to get to 60mph. Cars behind were so close and I could see they were thinking "come on, put your foot down". I did however have my foot to the floor.

I would estimate the 0-60 on this 1994, 50k mile example to be around 30 seconds.

So, next time you get annoyed that the doddery old bat in the Corsa in front of you isn't putting her foot down. Just think, she might have her foot to the floor.

While it isn't an auto, we have a 06 1.2 Corsa twinsport, or twinpants, or nosport in the company fleet. Horrible little thing, took forever to get up to speed. I flat out refuse to drive it. I was forced (really) to try it once and ragged it so badly that as a result it was deemed best to leave the big cars to me. I find cars that you have to plan in advance what you are going to do to be dangerous.

What really worries me is that the other guys in the office all like driving it, damn metrosexual generation, no hope for them I say.

Heh it is either 17.4s (3 door) or 13.6 (5 door) :D

Power is a staggering 59bhp.

Rofl!

That's luxury compared to a citreon ax 1.4 debut (diesel). Even things liek the matiz are luxury cars in comparison.
The stats are saying the 1.4 Debut Diesel has 53hp vs. the Corsa's 59hp, but the Corsa has an autobox so I think it will outslow the Debut I'm afraid!

I remember joining a dual carriageway up a hill in a 1.2 Corsa (the 44hp version) with a misfire.. it was a case of lowest possible gear and maximum throttle and we were still slowing down! :p

Jesus christ it looks like one of those psychadelic scenes from a 70's soft porn movie where everyones spaced out on LSD having it off.

:D:D

Hahahahahahahahaha!

Someone actually thought that looked good enough to pay what, £10k for?

LOL!

I recognise that dire steering wheel - I learnt to drive in that model Corsa (1.2 I think) :( Luckily my instructor bought a new car a fortnight before I took the test. It was another Corsa but at least had power steering and was much easier to drive.

A friend of mine has an pld Astra 1.4 Auto which is probably the same sort of engine I guess - I found it extremely asthmatic and painful to drive :) Foot all the way down to the floor and it accellerated like it was going through a foot of treacle :D

The auto box lever had a button on the top marked "S". I'm guessing this is for "sport" mode. Hoever it should have been marked "L" for "louder" as that was the only noticable effect when it was pressed.
