You got lucky relatively speaking - didn't go so well for some poor guy in Ibiza in a similar situation - police assumed he was the trouble maker and roughed him up good (not just black eye/bruised ribs) then dumped him in the middle of nowhere.

EDIT: Plus IIRC there was a similar situation where someone died.

I'll be going Russia in a couple of weeks so will hopefully not have a bad experience of that lol.

Maldives would/is actually my dream holiday to go on.
 
Lots of stuff do for planning. Definitely a learning experience. Hope to go St Petersburg as well when over. Cant believe how massive the country is.

I've got a bucket list of places to go and want to do all of em before 50. Am a holiday junkie, love cultures.
 
North Africa. August to mid-September 2001. Yes, there were people celebrating.

Failing that, Turkey in something like 2003. Some guy tried to rape my mum. My dad and I caught him in the act. The aftermath wasn't pretty.
 
Oh, just thought of another. But more an event that could have been very unfortunate.

In May just gone, was enjoying a little snorkeling in Sardinia maybe 60-70yards out. Saw something in the sea grass (no it wasn't Jaws or a Mermaid). Looked closer and was a starfish. Thought it be interesting show family so went down try pick it up but was deeper than I thought. Went again couldn't get it.

For some reason got a weird feeling that what if its poisonous or something. So tore the extra material off swim shorts got my breath and went down and got it. I was also carrying an underwater camera (like a goPro).

Anyway, as soon as I came up blew out the snorkel and breathed. Hadn't got all water out so took in a lung full of water. Started swimming all the while breathing in water from snorkel. Lots of coughing. Looked up trying see where shore was... Snorkel went under and strawed up another lung full.

Swam again and really started to panic. Body very low on oxygen and being 19st+ really need that stuff and was I reckon either two breaths or a few metres off going under when I just managed to big toe the floor. Started hyperventilating before finally calming down as got to shore. Didn't drop starfish or camera.

The Mrs said I was stupid as I admitted I wouldn't have called for help as you look a right idiot. Lol.

Portugal when I was very young. Bad sunburn on my back and my parents decided to use sunscreen after the fact. Nothing has stung so bad since but pretty low down on the scale in this thread.
 
I haven't had a holiday for 20 years. How's that for horrible?

I'm over 40 years old. I had a holiday to the Lake District when I was about 6, and another when I was 21, to Chapel Saint Leonards. It was rubbish.
