Worst hotel room view you had

Around 10 years ago I stayed in NY on a works trip. I got the last room booking in a hotel called Ink 48.

It was a bargain at around $800 per night and had a terrible view from the penthouse that I was allocated. The river including the WW2 aircraft carrier that is/was a tourist attraction. Plus two city views from something like the 18th floor (from memory)

Terrible views ;)

Worst hotel room view I ever had was through the keyhole of room 23 in Brown's on Albemarle Street in London. The woman put a bloody chair in the way... She was some stunner. Gutted.

In Hungary, I stayed in 1 of the grand hotels in Budapest, can't remember the name.

Impressive lobby, had it's own thermal spa. On the way up to my room, I passed several plaques with the names of dignitaries who had stayed there.
Couldn't believe I got my room at such a low price.

This was my view of Budapest.

Motel in Vegas. Booked online and it looked.ok from the photos, bit away from the strip but no big deal. Arrived and it looked really dodgy, nothing like the photos at all. Checked in and room had no AC, huge blood stain on the carpet under the bed and what looked like 2 bullet holes in the wall above the door. Door looked like it had been kicked in and repaired several times. We politely declined to stay and found a best western which was marginally better but 5 times the price.

Well not the worst but here's the last, Travelodge at Faringdon Oxfordshire, actually a decent place tbh

An IBIS Budget in Antwerp. It overlooks a railway line on one side, and a carpark on the other. In between the sounds of random people doing it!

Forgot about the Premier Inn in Newcastle Quayside. Next to the Tyne Bridge base. Had a top floor room and most of the view from window was obscured by kittiwake poo.

Plus when outside walking under TB, you had to duck to avoid the low flying kittiwakes and try not to slip on their poo. Saw a couple of people slipping on it. Plus it stank!

A fairly upmarket Hostel/Hotel in Prague. For some reason the twin room had a bathroom/shower with a glass wall looking out onto the beds.

I did not really want or need to see my mates face as he curled one out first thing in the morning. We got some extra sheets and hung them up after that.

View out of the window was nice, though.

It's a toss up between the boss booked five in a room above a pub working away room somewhere near Grenwich in London, out of the bathroom window was the mainline railway, out of the bedroom window was a T junction, upon which a car overturned and killed the driver in the railings... Blue lights flashing through the window the entire night. Pub was rowdy as F before it shut as well.

2nd and probably the worst because I paid for it.. was a room in a hotel called "talk of the town" in Aruba. it was literally a roundabout away from the end of the runway and the room looked out onto a rubble yard like someplace had fallen down through disrepair rather than demolition. this was a 2.5K holiday where I packed my **** up the next morning after experiencing breakfast on my jack jones as there was no one else seemingly in the hotel, went to the checkout guy who had one arm and said, just to let you know I'm checking out early..
I walked up the road and booked into the Marriot blue something or other for ANOTHER £2k.. and from then on had a bloody fantastic holiday as that hotel had it's own private island which I didn't know about at the time and you got free transport to it whenever you wanted..
Hand fed some wild flamingos on the beach there too.

There are also some hotels that don’t have a room for the bathroom. Loo, shower/bath and basin are in one corner.

Hate that.

Italy last november, Rapallo. We were only there one night passing through so no big deal tbh. At least they didn't start hammering and drilling at 7am like they did in Verona!

Actually just had this happen. Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. Quite a nice one. Threw open the curtains hoping to be lucky enough to have a nice view over Lake Michigan. Instead I have the front grill of a Chevy Malibu and a steel cable about 5 feet from my face. Turns out it was right next to the attached multistory car park. Actually switched to a smaller room, which at least had a view of a road. Still, don't really go to Milwaukee for the stunning vistas I spose.

Thailand some Island in the south about 20 years ago.

Rats are the Mrs pants and woke up to a snake in the bathroom.

Miami Airport (1990's). The door and surroundings had been stoved in, repaired, and upon closer scrutiny the walls were peppered with bullet holes.

This was at a time rental cars were targeted. It was a tense but memorable holiday!
