Worst soap opera?

pretty sure no one on this thread has passed their citizenship test -
still the original and the best 'the erveryday story of country folk' ? it's had a blip during covid but otherwise fairly unblemished record, town crime statistics normal.

but with respect to the other soaps yes they have had some ridiculous story lines, competing for that younger audience,
but compared to much of the other dross on the tv aren't they holding their eg strictly/face/voice/little-mix(whoever they are)/crown/ the list gos on.

Sons and Daughters
Albion Market
Falcons Crest

These and Eastenders are the ones i'd say are the worst.

Used to love Neighbours/Home and Away as a kid - some of the female characters were stunning (especially compared to the UK's efforts!)

But now, i can't stand ANY soap opera - why would anyone choose to watch a show about the dreary lives of others and listening to people argue and shout and scream at each other?!

The wife watches Corrie, Gogglebox, I'm a Celebrity and tbf, we have an agreement that when that pish is on, i'm either watching a movie, gaming or doing whatever i want - so works for us :)

They are all so utterly terrible. The best was Take The Highroad, think it was a Scottish production, but it was so terrible it was good, doors not closing and studio fake walls shaking etc lol. Think it was the inspiration for Victoria Woods Antiques sketch which cracked me up.

You sound like my Dad and he was horrible to my Mum and a proper nasty man when it came to what he wanted :(
Back in the 60s my Mum used to beg me not to tell my Dad we'd been watching Coronation Street while he was on noons.
I suppose what you watch is better than what everybody else watches?
No Not at all , I do not have a problem with them watching what they want just as long as I'm not being subjected to it but I feel that they do negatively influence the way society behaves and communicate with each other.., women especially because of the way the uncouth chav inbred **** female characters yawp & yell at each other & are very confrontational. In my experience women who watch A diet of soaps & Brainless trashy reality TV & not much else, it makes them start behaving like those characters. I know it is impossible to immerse yourself in a particular culture & not be influence by it in some way or other but it's just unfortunate that the soaps are very nasty & negative and sadly that is the way society seems to function nowadays .

Dallas began in 1978 & ran for 13 years. IIRC the last episode in season 3 Started the story 'who shot JR' & the conclusion of that story got the most viewers in the entire series. There was speculation for months!

Dynasty began in 1981 & ran for 8 years. Starred our very own Joan Collins & Stephanie Beacham.

Personally if soaps were more like Game of Thrones (Violent death in every episode) then it might get my attention. :p

One of them featured a character called (I think) Bobby Ewing and I only knew that because he was also The Man From Atlantis.
Apparently he got killed in an episode but the public were so upset that he came back and they pretended that so many episodes had just been a dream :)
I think I got that right.
