Worth buying an AW3423DWF or waiting for new monitors?

I dont get the obsession with 4k. At 34UW" 1440p is perfectly fine(1600p would have been a lot better), but even with 4090 it is borderline playable with new games at >90fps. 4k is still too demanding and needs too many compromises.

4K is nice and all and it is a visual improvement over 1440P but to me the visual increase is not worth the performance needed even with a rig that can push 4K.

I would rather run UW1440P locked to 60FPS while my system stays relatively cool and quiet.

4k at 32 inch looks great PPI wise, but no way someone is getting 240 fps or close to it at 4k even with lowered settings and 4090.
I wish Samsung was working on a 3840x1600 38 inch ultrawide qd oled. Maybe next year we will hear something.

Just personal opinion. I game at 4k and in my opinion 4k at 60fps is overall preferred to 90fps 1440p uw. Tbh all my games are running 90+ fps anyways.

I agree. I tried 4K, but it is exactly as you say. I didn't consider the increase in resolution to be that "stunning". Having OLED, decent HDR and a high refresh rate is far more impressive and less demanding too.

Yeh I'd rather have a 1440p oled than 4k ips/tn. But 4k oled over 60fps, I prefer over 1440p uw oled. Has same inky lacks and the jump in res is very noticeable. I do understand that some people prefer high fps over resolution, but for me once I'm in the 90+ range, the resolution becomes more of a benefit for me.

I'm in the same boat as OP and wondering if I should wait. Anyone have any idea if they will drop the price of the 34 when they announce the new ones?
I wouldnt count on it. Probably around 650 is the lowest it will be for a while. 32 4k will be considerably more expensive(I would assume ~1500 at launch - it will still be a much better deal than lg 42)

Ive never used 4K, so I cant compare exactly. The games im playing have no "Jaggies," so i'm not sure what im missing but in sure i need FPS even with an RTX 4090

The OLED/HDR in newer games just blows my mind more than a slightly crisper image.

Opinions I guess. I have been playing on a 21:9 34 inch qd oled monitor for the last 1.5 years and I think I would have a hard time going back to 16:9 (I just wish the monitor was a bit bigger, 38-40 inch with a 3840x1600 resolution).

Yes with 1600 resolution I could live with that. My old dell 30" from 2007 had 2560x1600. 1440 is like a letterbox for me

Well I have the PG42UQ and have to say it's the ultimate screen. Dont forget for performance you can always create a custom res of 3840x1600 or any resolution for that matter.

Because of the size of the screen, 21:9 looks awesome with the horizontal borders. Basically emulating ultrawide. You can always use NIS or DLSS to bring the burden down on your GPU. A large 4k screen is very versatile compared to ultrawide or 2k. I only game on mine, so this is from a gamers perspective.

I liked 21:9 well enough when I had it, but it's not suited to all games imo. Now that I'm also playing on consoles as well as PC, I'd definitely prefer 16:9 4K. To be fair, I'm just glad we're finally getting good options at most resolutions and screen sizes these days.

Was planning on waiting for the 32” 4K 240hz OLED, mainly the 4K for text clarity as I’ll also use it for work.

Alternatively the 27” 2K 360hz OLED assuming clarity on the new qd panels is decent.

Main uses will be work, fps games and then whatever AAA, which is probably the only time the 4K will make a difference. Maybe worth looking at a wide.
